I haven't done (as I promised my mother, Dorris, I would) and kept current with the family history. Until tonight I had lost all addresses and could not proceed. Computers are amazing instruments for finding all manner of information. I would like to keep in touch and help if possible. I'm sure you have info I should have also. Mishelle is my cousin's daughter. I will be writing to her also.

Hi: I rarely go into this website so just read your post of more than five years ago. The likelihood of two sisters by the names, 'Bessie' and Lillie', seems rare, although your latter's spelling differs slightly from mine. However, their father would have been John Calvin Titus and not Dukeminier. That surname is the one which Lillie, am sure it was, acquired when marrying into that line, and that is why I am tracking that name.

Please do not hesitate to contact me directly.

Leslie Johnson
kljohns91@sbcglobal.net

Back to looking through paperwork that I was given (as I am adopted) about my biological family. I found a write up with information about Isaac. I will type what is wrote on this paper. Came from the Encyclopedia of American Quaker Genealogy vol. V by Hinshaw. Dukemineer-----isaac b 10/30/1769 m Anna who was b 9/28/1764. their children were Hannah b 11/1/1798, Ann b 5/28/1801, Isaac b 4/24/1809.
12/1818 Elibeth (Ann) m Gershom Perdue
2/1832 Hannah m Thomas Wells
1/23/1833 Isaac dis mout.(disowned-married out of unity)
4/22/1857 Ann granted White River (granted Certificate)

says: records of meetings from Miami, Warren County, Ohio 1803

But per my information I had Isaac born in 1796. so not sure this is the same people but figured I would forward it on. Also on this page they stated that they were not sure if this was Rebecca Holmes parents but this is what they found: from the Caldwell Kentucky Marriage 1809-1900:

Lewis Holmes to Mary T. Freer March 21, 1814 and a Aaron Holmes to a Sally Terrill July 4, 1822.

Maybe this might send you in some direction.

I have a huge book on the Dukeminier family history. My biological father is how I am tied into this family. If you can give me some names I can look them up in my book. A popular name around my biological grandfather was Misher. This is how I got the spelling of my name. I hope I can help you out. Nothing has been updated on this book since 1972. But I have a lot of information.

Here is the information that I have from my book:

Notes by Merle Wasson Hays & Dorris:
Richard Pruitt served with "Roddy's Escort, Alabama Cavalry, Confederate States Army" in the Civil War. He moved to Texas from Alabama in 1892 and settled in Rick, Texas where he lived at the time of his death. Richard P. was living in Rice when Johnny Jefferson and Mary Pickens Dukeminier went to Texas the first time and were in Rice when Mary and her infant son died. Richard also visited the Johnny Jefferson family after they moved to Wellington, TX in 1905 and he was a big favorite of Lillie Dukeminier Mc Claskey.

Merle says he was a wonderful and kind man and was a great help to she and her Mother after Merle's father Luther Wasson died. He made sure they were alright and saw to their needs.

Other notes: Price Dukeminier told Dorris that Richard Pruitt was saved from a sever wound in the stomach, because he was wearing a big brass buckle and the bullet struck the buckle and did not penetrate.

I apparently have more digging to do on all the children Richard Pruitt had with Cordelia. I only have 5, them being Violet, Callie, Clark, Maggie and Henry.

I have the Richard Pruitt was buried in Rice Cemetery in Rice Texas.
Yes Richard Pruitt's father was Isaac Michaux Dukeminier. Isaac Michaux (some spell it Misher) b. Feb 7, 1796 in NC, d. Aug 31, 1878 in Mt. Hope, AL and buried in a Private family cemetery on the plantation. I have a small story on Isaac in my book that I am willing to share also. Isaac married Rebecca Holmes July 25, 1824 and they had 9 children.

I appreciate any help you can give!
My Great Grandfathers name was Richard Pruitt Dukeminier. He died in Texas in 1916. He was a veteran of the civil war. (Confederate)
I BELIEVE his father was Isaac Dukeminier, (d. 31 Aug. 1878) and mother was Rebecca (Holmes) Dukeminier. I believe Isaac and Rebecca had 3 children older than Richard: Caroline, Martha, and America. This info from Lawrence county, Al. census. Also believe Isaac was b. in NC.

Richard Pruitt Dukeminier was married to Cordelia. They had 11 children. One of these was Callye (or Callie) Rebecca Dukeminier (later a Shelton). Also, possibly a Violet.
Hope at least some of these names give you something to go on. If you need more info, I'll do what I ca. I am interested in finding the country that they originated as well, if possible. Family story is that it was Holland.

Thank you very much for your help and info.

~Phyllis
