Sorry, but I can't help you out. My lineage is with the Foster family. And my connection with the Tom Dula story is through Anne (Foster) Melton to whom would be my aunt 3 times removed as her eldest brother, Pinkney Andrew Foster, is my great-great grandfather. My great-great grandmother, Lucinda (Walsh) Dula Foster married William Dula about 1858 or 59 and they had 1 son named Rufus Dula. William died as a P.O.W. in 1865. Lucinda married Pinkney about 1870. Rufus Dula appears in the 1880 census as the stepson of Pinkney Foster. His name is misinterpreted from the person who was trying to read the census as Dala and the Foster name was also as Fortes. However, if you actually look at the census, you can clearly see that Dala is really Dula and that Fortes is really Foster. I know for a fact that this is my grandparents because all of their children match up to my copy of their family bible.
Thanks for the interest. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
