Reading in a book about Scrogin family on-line, it gives the date of Jeptha and Elizabeth's wedding. The next paragraph says:
Jeptha meybe related to Moses Dooley/Dooly who married Elizabeth Bohannon in Shelby Co., KY 24 Apr 1823.
Do you have any knowleage of this Moses?

Dixie,
If I could prove my earlier stated theory about Jeptha being a son of Garrett and a grandson of Edmund (and that is a mighty big IF), then our common ancestor would be William Duling (abt 1720 - abt 1789) of King & Queen County, Virginia.
This particular William Duling (my 5th great-grandfather) had four sons and a daughter. One son, William, was my 4th GG. Another son was Achilles who had no issue. Another son, Larkin, and another, Edmund. The daughter, Elizabeth, married and moved to Kentucky. Edmund also moved to Kentucky in late 1700's or early 1800s. He appears in the 1810 census, but then he vanishes.
I find their lack of courtesy in leaving a better trail to be very irritating. :-)

Brad Duling
Parkersburg, W Va

Hello cousin Cheryl,
Jeptha Duling is a challenge. I got a copy of his civil war record which states he was born in Pulaski County, Ky. For awhile I tried to locate all Duling, Doolin, Doling, etc. to see if I could find a family that he fit into with no luck. There are atleast 6 family living in Pulaski County at the time of Jeptha birth. Any help you can give is appricated. Would like to exchange information about your Homer. email: Dixiebells@aol.com

My grandfather was Homer Duling born in late 1800's in Sundance Wyoming, a grandson of Jeptha. Have not found Jeptha's lineage. Just talked with a genealogist who said there were Dutch Dulings who may have gone to British Isles first then onto America and originally spelled their name DUELING. Do you know anything else about Jeptha? Thanks, Cheryl Davis Hilliard

Could possibly have been from a relative named Broomall. On her paperwork, she listed Phila Pa as her birth place. Thanks for your help....

Dixie,
I have wondered about Jeptha Duling for a very long time. I cannot connect him to a prior generation. I have thought that, quite possibly, Jeptha could be the son of Garrett Duling (1830 census Anderson Co., KY) and I have thought that Garrett could be a son of Edmund Duling of King & Queen Co, VA who moved to Bourbon Co., KY in the very late 1700's or very early 1800's (He is in the 1800 & 1810 Bourbon Co census). This is only my theory and I cannot prove it ..... yet.
Are you a Duling descendant?

Brad Duling
Parkersburg, W Va

That will take you to a search page. You should be able to find several documents for Achilles Duling. Many documents have been scanned but there are still lots that haven't been. If you see something you are interested in, e-mail the CRHC. Let me know if you have any problems finding it.

William Duling (1748 - 1839) & Sarah Ann Campbell had six children: William Alexander Duling (1779 - 1856), Elizabeth Duling (1791 - 1818), Collin Campbell Duling (1784 - 1851), Edmund Duling (1786 - 1860), Sarah Ann Duling (1789 - 1864), and Zachariah Duling (1790 - 1820).

Collin Campbell Duling (07 Mar 1784 - 01 Oct 1851) married Lucy Thomas abt 1803 and had William Duling (1805 - 1858), Maria Duling (1806 - ?), Elizabeth Duling (1807 - 1855) and Lucinda Duling (1814 - 1881). Collin Campbell Duling married Fanny Hayes on 13 Feb 1917 in Frederick County, Virginia. They had 10 children: Collin C. He was a son of William Duling (1748 - 1839) and his second wife, Mary Marsh.
I am researching the Duling Family, specifically Collin Campbell Duling and his wife Fanny Hays. I have found them in the 1850 census with seven children. Did they have children who were not listed on this census?

I have been unsuccessful going back further than the 1850 census since my only resource is Ancestry or FamilySearch.org. From these message boards I have gleaned information on Collin's parents, William Duling and Sarah Ann Campbell and four children (Collin, Achilies, Edmund and Larkin) and would welcome information on any other children.

I am trying to write a book about our relationship thru his prison years. I met him in Columbus, Ohio when I was 19, he was and still is the only man i have ever loved. He shot a Columbus chief of police when he kicked open a door and I was not with him that nite. Although I did look for him when he tried to escape. Could have been real trouble for us both. He was on death row in Lucasville until Gov. Rhodes commuted the death penalty.

Ollie,
I have recently come across some data that proves that my Great-great-great-great-grandfather, William Duling (1748 - 1839) had three brothers, Achilles, Edmund and Larkin. The Larkin for whom you are searching is not the brother of my William, but is probably a nephew and a son of either Edmund or Larkin as Achilles had no issue.
Also, the Andrew B. Duling whom you mentioned — I have a copy of a Caroline County marriage certificate for he and Paulina A. Brooks from 22 Dec 1863. His parents are listed as Larkin and Sarah Duling and her parents are H.A. Brooks and Hannah B. Brooks.

Anyone interested in the will of Achilles Duling? I came across one while archiving old court records in Fredericksburg, VA. I can't remember exactly what year the will was written but I know the court case was about 1843. It was a case that had to do with his will. The case has family information in it. It was a case in Caroline County, VA but King and Queen were also mentioned along with another county. Let me know if you are interested and I will look it up.

I can get from Archelaus Van Hook m. Jemima Whaley to James Anderson Duling. Jemima was/is? my first cousin 7 times removed!

I have not pursued that line any time recently. Anything new on you side. I have a bunch of Van Hooks in the database, but I don't think any are in my direct line.

Refresh my memory.

What I know of James Knox Polk Duling is that he was born Sept 4 1844 in Vt. died Oct 5 1904, married Elizabeth Hoyt Feb 12 1866, had four children, the youngest being my grandmother. He is listed in the book "Irish Famine Immigrants in the State of Vermont.Gravestone Inscriptions but not much info there I didn't already know. What I'd like to know is who were his parents? the 1900 census says both parents were born in Ireland, and did he have any siblings? I've kinda hit a dead end here with this, although my great grandmother Elizabeth goes back a long ways. Any help would be better than great! thanks for taking the time to respond.
Gray
