I am trying to find out more about my relations William Dolmage and his wife Alicia nee Maurice who came from ireland to Oakville Ontario about 1830. Their children, William, John and Anna also settled in area. Anna was married to John Diamond and came to Canada with two children and also settled in Oakville. John was married to Sarah Vanston and had farm at Eramosa in late 1830s which he sold about 1869 and then lived in Guelph and married again, a relation, Charlotte Perkins. He died about 1883. I dont know anything further about son William except that he worked on lakes.

If you know anything more about this family I would be very interested to hear.

regards Kathleen

I have pictures of Philip's tombstone

Two weeks ago I went to South bay to look for
tombstones. I took pictures of all that were
related to us including Philip's and Lydia's
as well as their daughter Margarets and
their famous son Moses about whom there is
a play and two audio tapes made. the last
tape is the best and is available from
Ashcroft Productions and is called "I Swear
on My Mothers Grave" It has a picture of
Moses tombstone on the package and it is
part of our Dulmage family heritage. It is
however a "two hanky" story even for the
most hardened of heart!
Don Dulmage

I live in
Ameliasburgh Ontario which is in Prince
Edward County.
I saw your messages posted on Family website. I am in Prince Edward County
and have traced the family definately back to 1510 and loosely back to
1400s when the name first began. The family still exists by the way.
I have a booklet that covers much of the German history.
By the way have you looked in your phone book? You are also in the heart of Dulmage country.
Don Karl Dulmage

A detailed account of the Huron county
Dulmages is in the Ameliasburgh Geneology
Centre.(I live about a mile from it)
Is you family from Jacob Dulmage? There
is even a photo copy of his old family Bible
page there.
John Dulmage and Jacob Dulmage are often
mixed up because they both had daughters
by the same name. (Lucy)
What specifically do you wish to know.
BTW I am just back from Germany and was
able to trace family roots definately
back to 1640 and generally back to 1430.
There are still Dolmetschs and Dollmetchs
in Germany and I am in the process of
writing them.
Don Dulmage (From David's son David's line)

Chuck I am searching out your line.
One thing you need to fix is Garret's
Father is Johan Adam Dolmetsch not
Adam Dolmetsch.
So it is Johan, Garret , Jacob ,Jacob,
John.
I can find your Jacob's Jacob and the birthdays
and place matches. I find no record of
his Children. It would appear from the
records That That Jacob went to the West
Indies. There are Dulmages recorded in
Huron county but they are from David, Jacob's son
He was Jonathan Allan Dulmage and he
married Christina Wright Their records then
show up in Michigan. That may not be what you need.
If you could get me from you backward I can
probably find it for you by working both ends.
There is a lot of info available now that never
was even a few years ago. One of my sourcses
has 1200 pages. Some of which I have and
the rest is coming.
Don

I am currently a Anthropology/History Major at Trent University and would be extremely greatful for any information, maps or pictures that I could receive.

I was looking forward to reviewing parish records this summer and photograph whatever I could find around Prince Edward County, it seems you beat me to it.

So far I have reached Jacob Dolmetsch c.1650 in Freimersheim, Palatinate, Germany and have reached a dead end. Unless there could be a mistake in John's dob, I think that rules out Philip as John's father. I don't have any children in my file for Philip and Lydia, that probably meant that they did end up in the States as most of the info I have comes from Canadian census records. If you ever can connect though, the Dulmage line is pretty well researched.

Willie Armstrong
Whitby, ON
pmann@idirect.com
It's a bit fuzzy, but from the info I have: I am from Johann Adam Dolmetsch to Garrett (Gerhardt) Dolmetsch to Jacob Dolmage to David Dolmage to Edward Dulmage to Benjamin Dulmage to Elnora Delmage (who would be my gggrandmother). Benjamin was born June 26, 1833 in Cherry Valley, Ontario and died Dec. 12 1908 in Whitebird, Idaho. but not before having 11 children. I am missing info for the clear lineage from Jacob through Benjamin. I only have bits and pieces and am missing some dates. Perhaps you can help me. I currently live in Cordova, Alaska and my e-mail address is shanarae66@hotmail.com. Thanks so much.

Shiela Geddes
I think it is fairly safe to assume that ALL the Dulmages, Delmeges, Dolmages and Dolmetsch 's are decendants of Johan Adam Dolmetsch who went from Germany with a group of Palatine refugees to England and hence to County Limerick in Ireland around 1709.
Jacob Dulmage Sr. emigrated to Manhattan with his three sons,Jacob Jr.,David and John around 1756.
I am a Direct descendant of that David. There are a lot of descendants of the brother John in the Community where I live near Prescott,Ontario, Canada.
I have a fairly complete history of the John Dulmage tribe that has been prepared in the last decade. If your ancestor was one of them, we are definitely in the same clan
Harry
I also have quite a lot of history on my side (David).
It was published in Belleville by Mika Press. Nick Mica is now dead but one of my sons says he knows where sssome extra copies aaaaare available.

Harry

Based on information that I have found posted on the internet. I believe that I am from the Jacob, Jacob, Garret, John (born in 1792), Sarah (born aroung 1834) that married a John Jackson in Sanilac Co. Michigan in 1854 (+-). In 1842 and 1851 there is a John listed (from Ireland) in the census and in 1871 a new John is listed that was from Prince Edward Co. Ontario. Both Johns are from the same family lines. The 1871 from the Garret, David line. There is also a Christopher listed in the Huron Co. area in 1851 and 1871, which I believe is Garret, John's son.
Any info or leads would be great.

Chuck

Ontario in 1840's and then to Sanilac Co. Michigan in 1850. There was a John that moved to Huron
Co, Ontario in the 1860's (or so) that is more documented that is from another Dulmage line.

I hope that this is as clear as mud.

Chuck
