Becky,
Nettie Bru Jackson Dungan is buried next to Jesse Lee Dungan. There is no stone. Jesse's father was Absalom Hardie Dungan born in Smythe County, Virginia in 1819. His mother was Ann Eliza Tilson Dungan also born in Smythe County. The family was in Hunt County, Texas in 1880. I am a descendent of John Robert Dungan, Jesse's older brother. If you are still interested, I have much to tell of your Dungan ancesters. Let me hear from you.
Elmo H. Dungan
elmodungan@att.net

I am a direct descendant of Andrew's youngest brother, William Oliver. I am seeking information on their father, William Murry Dungan. The only information I have is that he was born in Maryland about 1819. Is this line descended from the Dungans of Rhode Island?

Re: Elisha Dungan ca1807-1849

According to the 1850 Mortality Schedule, the Elisha Dungan who died in McDonough Co., IL, in 1849 was 42 at the time of death, and was born in Virginia. That makes his birth about 1807. Other than the approximate birth year, and probably born in VA, and married in 1834 in Russell Co., KY, to Clarissa Rippetoe, has any new fact been discovered?

I've seen a lot of online posts that merge this Elisha with another Elisha Dungan, but obviously not the same person due to the facts we do know about "our" Elisha's marriage, death, etc.

I have tried to trace through these old emails to see if you ever got your answer. James died 5 Feb 1835 in Montgomery, IN and Mary Brooks Dungan died 6 Dec 1846 in the same state.

Mary Brooks was the daughter of my ancestor, Benjamin Brooks and his wife Nancy of PA and later of OH. Benjamin and his grown children traveled to OH and it appears a couple of Mary and James' daughters moved with them, as they were married there in Ross Co.

There are quite a few trees (especially of the Stockton and Miller families) on Ancestry that include this information.

All trees state William Stockton died in 1846 in Memphis, TN. I'm not sure why he was there, as the rest of the family was in the Midwest. Their daughter Mary Ann Stockton married George Miller and moved to Oregon where he founded Millersburg in Linn Co. She died in 1857 and their son Charles Angus Miller moved to Heppner, Oregon where many of his descendants still live.

I am trying to tie in the Dungan relations to my great-great grandmother Katherine Keating. In passenger records, it shows that Maggie, or Margret Dungan (sometimes "Duggan", "Dugan"), was Katherine Keating sister. I do not know if Maggie Dungan was married and Dugan is her martial name or maiden name.

Also, Katherine Keating had two nieces whom lived with her. Their names are Agnes and Sadie Dugan and their birth place is Connectuit.

Any information will be very helpful

Mary Dungan may be the daughter of Isaac Dungan and his wife Mary, as they had a daughter named Mary and a son named James W. as appears in the 1860 census for Mary Braderick and her husband, and is living with them. Isaac is the son of Joseph Dungan and Elizabeth Carrell. No proof, just a guess.

Judy

My name is Amy (Keller) Sandvold. My great-grandmother was Josephine (Duncan/Dungan) Keller. Her family settled in Wexford, Iowa and they changed their name from Dungan to Duncan. Maybe these are the Dungan/Duncans that settled in Iowa that you are referring to? Josephine was a school teacher (maybe one of the first?) at Capoli School #2 down the road from Wexford, Iowa.

In regards to the children of Isaiah Dungan (#14), I have found one post by Sherry Dungan on GenForum (Dungan Family Genealogy Forum) that states Isaiah's daughter, Mariah was married 11/7/1815 in Fayette Co., Ohio to William J. Murray or Black.

I also find that a tax list (no township listed) shows Isaiah Dungan living in Fayette Co., Ohio in 1810.

Those two facts may suggest that the marriage of Sarah Dungan to John Williams in Fayette Co., Ohio on 25 Jan 1816 may refer to the "Nancy" Dungan credited to be married to 1) Unknown Williams, and then 2) George Noble.

Cheers!

Richard Cochran

After more research I have determined that this girl is not my Arminda Donnegan. She has been in the censuses each year with her husband and in the same location all of which are not the husband and the locations that my Arminda was living. It is a good thing to question what Ancestry finds
for you. They don't always prove to be correct.

Hi Dave -

Earl was married to my Aunt Ethel and lived in Rosedale, NY (Queens)until his death, which was ~20 years ago. Aunt Ethel was my fathers' mothers sister so I'm only related to Earl through marriage. My memories of Uncle Earl are really from when I was a child so are not too vivid. my most lasting memory was their pet talking parakeet who used to fly around the house and land on my Uncle Earl's glasses to perch. It would sit on his glasses for hours it seemed.

Earl had just one son, Larry, who moved out to North Ridge, OH (Cleveland) a few years back. He lives with his wife Ann and daughter Elizabeth. I don't have an email address for him but here is his phone number: 440-327-6447. I'm sure he'd be glad to hear from you.

All the best,

Bill

Arminda Donnegan

Arminda was first married to John Wm. Dungan, Jr. They had three children, Mary Nancy, Wm. Mitchell, and Thomas who died at age 11. Her maiden name was Arminda Arnold and she was born 29 Feb 1820 no proof of this yet. She died approx 1851. John Wm. remarried. I believe from what I can find that Arminda's parents were Willis and Nancy Chinn Arnold. Their daughter Elizabeth A. Arnold was also born on 29 Feb. 1820. This is probably my Arminda but I need proof. Any help you can give me is so appreciated. JudyMount918

Dear "Old and Cold in Kentucky" Hi, Mary - my name is Gail Dunagan Morrison. I would like to have access to the information that you have.

Can anyone verify the Dungan/Dunagin/Dunagan work done by Ruby Finch Thompson? I have documented my line to William C. Dunagin, but after that it gets fuzzy. My research shows William' father to be Jonathan Dungan, but others work shows his father be Jacob. They seem to name their children the same names generation after generation. And, many of them changed the spelling of their last name. My Grandfather, Stover Poe Dunagan changed the spelling of our name, because he felt it looked better on his letterhead.
Old and Cold in Las Vegas.

D.
Paula - I am new to this as well...by now you are a seasoned searcher...My great grandmother was Anna Lee Dungan Bedwell. She was a saintly old soul. She died at age 84. She married Earl David Bedwell and had 3 children - Ethel Mae (my grandmother) who married Thomas Morris Hempstead Sr. (former sheriff of George Co., MS and at once owned the John Deere place)- had 3 kids...., Bessie Lee who married Jake Mallette (former fire chief of Lucedale and owned a radiator shop) - had 1 child.....and Earl Cranford (Bud) who married Kaneko ? -had 0 children. Bud was in WWII and Korean War where he met Kaneko (Japanese). Anna Lee was expecting Bud when Earl David died on Christmas day. She lived a while w her parents w the kids. Later she moved to Lucedale, MS. where much of her fam. was. I met and remember vaguely Uncle Oscar, Uncle Hosea and Aunt May. Uncle Fred was a sweetheart. He and Aunt Pearl always had to give you something when you went to visit...had a huge quince tree they loved to share fruit from. Aunt Pearl made tea cookies...yummy. The others I did not know. What a great bunch of folks we came from!
