We did get Melchior's father and grandfather's names, but little to no info on them. I would also love to know what happened to our Daniel. He seems to have dropped off the face of the earth after his divorce from Lydia McCall. Any help you can be would be appreciated. We're willing to share what we do have.
Thanks

Horatio Dunkle, Martic Township, Lancaster County, PA

I am seeking further information on a Horatio Dunkle (born about 1827), most importantly, the names of his parents. I was unsuccessful in finding him in the 1850 U.S. census. I first find him in the 1860 census living in Martic Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, (age 31 and a laborer) with his wife Sarah (age 28) and their children: George (age 6), James (age 4) and Daniel (age 1). In the 1870 census he is still living in Martic Township with his wife and their four children -- George W. (age 15), James (age 13), Daniel (age 11) and Anna (age 7). In 1880 the family is still living in Martic Township -- Horatio (age 53), Sarah (age 49), George (age 27), James B. (age 23), Daniel (age 21) and Annie M. (age 17). In the 1900 census, Horatio (age 73) is living in his daughter Annie’s household in Martic Township; Annie is married to Samuel Drumm. George Washington Dunkle is married to a Susan Ellen Sampson and living in Martic Township Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. I have no further information on James and Daniel.

George Washington and Mary Ann (Terwilliger) Dunkle, Heath Twp, Jefferson Co, PA, 1881

Need information on George Washington and Mary Ann (Terwilliger) Dunkle. They were living in Heath Twp, Jefferson County in 1881. Mary Ann was born 20 Aug 1843 in Millcreek Twp, Clarion Co, PA, the daughter of Solomon and Phoebe (Kinyon) Terwilliger. She is listed as Mary Ann Brown in her father’s will dated 6 May 1879. This suggests her husband may have been deceased. A letter dated 8 March 1880 from Mary’s sister Rosella McGavren to her brother William also suggests that he was deceased: (letter is referring to the sale of their father's property in Millcreek Twp, Clarion Co, PA): "I also give my consent for sister Mary Ann to occupy the farm if it will be satisfactory with the other heirs If she can manage it and benefit herself I think she should have the preference as she needs a home." Further research revealed his name was Adam A. Brown. The same deed in the Clarion County courthouse (Volume 31 Page 269 dated 23 Nov 1881) has Mary Ann being married to G. Washington Dunkle, their residence listed as Heath Township, Jefferson Co., PA..

Thank you,

Lori

I am researching my great-grandmother Barbara Dunkle who was born in PA. about 1831. She married David William Hoffman in Bedford, PA about 1851 and they ended up in Iowa with residences in Ohio, Wisconsin, and Illinois in-between. She had a sister, Susan, who went with them. I think Barbara's full name was Barbara Ann. I thought maybe she was the oldest child of George and Susan Dunkle, but the Susan on their list of children seems to young.
