I think this thread is about ....

John W Dunlap

born: West Virginia during the process of secession, in November 1862
married: abt 1885 Alice (or Allice) Estep

They had five children, Elonzo (Aug 1886), James A (Nov 1887), Julia (Dec 1890), Herman (May 1892) and Forest (Feb 1894). There may have been a Grace in there, too.

The eldest boy, Elonzo, married Gertrude in abt 1911, and they had two children, John K (Jan 1913) and Elizabeth Marie (1919).

The first was to become Master Sergeant John Kendall Dunlap, winner of the Bronze Star.

John married Florence Stone (born 11 Apr 1915) who was the daughter of Fred and Theresa Stone, fruit farmers from Pine City, Whitman County, Washington.

Both of Florence parents died in 1973 and Florence outlived her husband (who was known in the family as Jack) and died in Marion County, Oregon, in May 1988.

John died in Wasilla, Alaska, on Aug 12 1960.

If you know anything about John K Dunlap or his family, please let me know.
