Nancy Harriett DUNNAM

I'm looking for Nancy Harriett Dunnam, said to be a daughter of William Davis Dunnam. Some of the online trees I've found show Harriett, b. 1852 or 1853, as a daughter, others don't. The ones that don't have a large gap between James (b. about 1847) and Theopholus, b. about 1854, room for Harriett and a son William found on those trees. There's an 1860 census showing William, wife Elizabeth and children Adalyne, Susan, Martha, James, William, Harriett & Theopholus. Even though William Davis is said to have died before 1860, it seems this could be him and his family. They're in Itawamba Co., Mississippi.

One thing that makes me wonder if my Nancy Harriett (great-grandmother) is this Harriett is she and her husband (J. O. Fife) named a son Malcolm COMMANDER. I've often wondered where that middle name came from.

My Nancy was born in 1852, in Union Co., Miss; married Joseph Oliver FIFE in November, 1870, also in Union Co., and they moved at some point to east Texas. She died in Commerce, Tx in 1949.
Frances Ann DUNNAM or DUNHAM married John ADDISON in 1811

I am seeking information on the ancestors or parents and siblings of Frances Ann DUNHAM or Frances Ann DUNNAM who married John ADDISON on 4 December 1811, probably in South Carolina. They had no children. They were on an ocean voyage and were lost at sea in December 1812.

John ADDISON's father was also John ADDISON, so I shall henceforth refer to the younger as Jr. and the elder as Capt. to avoid confusion.

The father of John ADDISON, Jr. was Capt. John ADDISON, a mariner. The ADDISON family resided in Georgetown County, South Carolina.

Capt. John ADDISON was in Charleston, SC prior to removing to Georgetown.

In 1784 in Charleston, SC, Capt. John ADDISON married Tamson RALPH, daughter of John RALPH and his first wife, Ann.

Have any of you DUNNAM/DUNNHAM lost track of a Frances DUNNAM /DUNHAM who might be this one?

We have several babymakers alive and kicking up here (what else to do on cold winter nights). I myself have seven children, three of which made me a grandpa this year. I would love to talk with and share as much as I can with anyone interested. Looking forward to hearing from y'all!!!

Hi,

I just discovered that John Dunnam and Lucy Ann Moore may be my Great grandmother's parents. My great grandmother was named Irene Dunnam. I was always told that it was spelled Dunham. I guess that is the reason I was never able to find out any information on her. She married a Marion Francis Rister. Their daughter Orav Ophelia Rister which was their youngest child was my paternal grandmother. She passed away at a very young age. She only had one child and that was my Dad, Aubrey Lee Joffrion. I don't have much information on John Franklin and Lucy as I just discovered this information about 30 minutes ago. What I have I will be glad to share if you think it will help. Contact me directly my E-Mail address is lagranny50@cox.net.
Sincerely,
Deena Broussard

Would like to have others who are interested and living in the Woodbridge NJ area come, join and take a look at the site. You may even have more information to share.

Cecil W. Vernon's email address used in the message is no longer valid, however I am researching this family since I descend from Mary Jane Vernon, daughter of Thomas Hamilton Vernon (who Cecil accidentally noted as Thomas Hamilton Hamilton) and Susan Ann Dunnam. I have been unable to find any documentation that the Thomas' son noted as William Rane Vernon actually had the middle name "Rane". In all censuses he is noted as William, William J., or Will J.; the latter when he was 75 and living in Navarro County, Texas.

My genealogical database contains info on Thomas Hamilton Vernon, his wives, children, and ancestors. http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&...

Your aunt Gertrude was my Uncle Mack's first wife. I remember her vaguely. She died when I was quite young. Actually, I don't remember seeing her after I was in grade school. She had a chihuahua dog called Billy. I hated that dog.

The family tree that we have is slightly different than the one on this list. The father of Mack, Joseph Sephas, Cullen Grimes, etc. we knew as Elijah Fletcher Dunnam not Elias. My aunt was Lora not Laura.
I remember very little about Aunt Gertrude but all I do remember is that she was not a nice person in our lives. She did lots of handwork, crocheting etc. I think I may still have some things she made. Sorry I can't give you a good word about her.

Re: Opal Dunnam Parker, TX-CA

Thanks Fran. You are probably right that this is a different Opal. I think I did see yours in some records. The only information I had for Opal came from the wedding certificate (dated Sep. 15. 1934, Cottle Co., TX) and it said she was Mrs. Opal Dunham Parker. I found Opal Annie Dunnam in a gedcom on FamilySearch/org who had been married to, and divorced from, Howard James Parker. She was born 9/9/1914 in Hylton, Nolan Co., TX and died in 1972 in California. She had five children according to this gedcom, four still living. Dilemma: the fifth child, deceased in 1966, was born 3 Feb 1936, but his name was David Lee Parker --- not Woodward, my father's name. They may have either had the marriage annulled or they divorced. I have yet to find a record. And she may have returned to her first husband, OR just returned to his name for the sake of her children....????? This Opal's parents names in the gedom were James Franklin Dunnam and Minnie Mae Green. I have written to the submitter and hope to hear back soon! Thanks so much for your quick response.

Delores, I am intrigued by your query because my mother's name was Opal Dunnam. However, I am certain we are talking about two different women. My mother was born in OK in 1914 and came to TX in 1930/31 where she married the only husband she ever had, Joe Baker, in late 1931. They lived in east Texas where she died in June 1970. There was, apparently, quite a large contingency of Dunnam's in Delta and Lamar Counties, TX in the early 1900s.

I am looking for information about Opal Dunnam/Dunham who was briefly married to my father, Bedford Forrest Woodward, after divorcing her first husband, possibly Howard James Parker. I only today(1/30/03) found her in the FamilySearch.com records. I had been spelling the name "Dunham," since that's what's on their marriage certificate. I am looking for their divorce records, wondering if I have any half-siblings out there! My mother was Forrest's second wife. Opal and Forrest were married in Cottle Co., Texas.

Gertrude was married to my Uncle Mack Dunnam. She died in Flagstaff. She had a niece to whom my parents sent a very nice hand made Navajo Indian bracelet when she graduated from high school. I was jealous and asked for an identical one, which I still have. Gertrude was deliberately cruel. I think she was a bit "off her rocker". Mack Dunnam is said to have invented the first "gumball" machine; he also developed mechanical devices for canning companies in AZ. He married a widow named Marie and disappeared from our lives.

What do you know?

Hi. None of these names sound familar, but I don't have much to go on. My dad, Bob Dunnem passed away last May and he did not have much information. His father, Earl, was 21 when he died around 1935. His family was from Missouri, close to Ark. I have not been able to find Earl's death certificate so I don't even know his parents' names. M y grandmother always said they ended up in the "Poor house". or worse and would not talk about them. I think they were not able or did not want to help her and the 2 kids after Earl's death. Any idea what area in Ark they lived?
My Grandfather's name was Alvin Dunnem (Arkansas), he married Pauline Bryant, my maternal g-grandmother's name was Minnie Dalton, I don't know who my maternal g-grandfather was, nor do I know the names of any siblings. Paternal g-grandfather was Allen Dunnem, he married Ocie Tennison, again I don't have sibling names, or the names of their parents. Alvin and Pauline's children were Alvin and Edward, their children (Alvin--married Judie, children Kyle Marie, James, kimberly and David) (Edward--children Edward, Dina Marie, married Sharon, child, Wendy). I'd love any information anyone can provide, and am willing to share anything I can.

My grandfather was Joshua Columbus Dunnam from Clarke County Ms. His Brother or nephew Sam Dunnam married my father's half sister whose name was Georgia(sis)Neal. Georgia had a twin brother named Joseph. Georgia and Sam lived in Texas. All are deceased except my mother who was one of 17 children. She is 91.

For you folks looking for a Dunnam connection from Texas, my Grandpa's brother Samuel Dunnam went to Texas. He was married to my daddy's half sister, Georgia Neal. A cousin from Milry Al. has done a complete history all the way back to peter Dunnam in 1300. Right now I can't find the book, since I have moved. However, I will share whatever information with you I have. Joshua Columbus or J.C. was my grandfather and he was the father of 17 children, of whom my mother, Gladys who is 91 is the only surviving one. If you will send me your e addresses who are interested I will send you the address and I think the book is $10-20. There is also a connection with the Williams and Lily's(grandma Dunnam's side) of whom my mother has a book and these are also in Texas
