James Dunnet and Isabella Cook

Anyone have any information that may help me find their parents. I have James Dunnet down as being born about 1793 that may be wrong and Isabella at 1798. I have the death certificate of their son Maxwell and it does not say they were deceased at the time of his death in 1857 but cannot trace any census records or death cert., for either of the two names

Hi Peggy,
Just to add to our information, Isabella Sinclair Patterson nee Dunett was baptised Sinclair Dunnet. There is a Tree on Ancestry.com here, that looks promising and the owner is Willeen28 from New South Wales, Australia. Have sent an e-mail, so hoping to hear from her soon. She looks like she may be connected to a George Dunnet, a younger brother to Sinclair Patterson.
Looks like:
Alexander Dunnet father 1788 - Jan. 8th. 1858
Magaret Baikie mother 1786-1879
Jean Dunnet
Elizabeth Dunnet
Sinclair Dunnet
Janet Dunnet
John Dunnet
George Dunnet

Judy Anderson
South Surrey, B.C. Canada
lorneanderson@shaw.ca

I am looking for the parents of Isabella Sinclair Dunnett born abt. 1815 (some sources say 1819). Thinking these might be the parents because one of Isabella's daughters is named Margaret Baikie Patterson. I know Isabella was born in Scotland although not sure where. Some people think Ratter.
Thanks for any help
Peggy

However I have come across a distant cousin living in Canada called Maryann Rosie if you go on the Roots web site and click on family trees and then on Scotstar you will find the Rosie Family Tree and you will be amazed at her research.
Good luck if you find a link to my Dunnet's would be pleased to hear from you again.
Yours Barbara Dunnett

Potted history of my research so far (not much as I have been sidetracked by my mother’s family tree in Yorkshire)

Frederick’s father was William Benjamin Dunnett B:1826 Chediston. On 1881 census he was living in Black Heath, Wenhaston, Suff. His wife was Mary A (born in Darsham, Suff), daughter Martha A and grandson Arthur G born 1880 (possibly child of Martha A). Fred’s sister Emma born 1848 married Forster.

Frederick Dunnett Senior B:1854 Cookley D:
Married Kezia Barber (Born 1853 Redisham) in June 1873

Grandad Fred’s siblings were Edgar B:1874 (who married Mary, two daughters Annie & Mary, as shown on 1901 census (?died 1879) Ernest B: 1876 Ellen B:1879 Emma B:1881 Clara B:1889 Alice B:1894 Emily B:1897 & Arthur B:1900. Another daughter Kezia died 6 days of age in 1876.

Frederick (son) Born: 1886, Died:
Married Ethel Maud Rayner on 17.4.1911, she was born 1886 Islington and died in 1926.

This last Frederick (born 1886) is my paternal grandfather, one of his children was Alfred Dunnett who was my father.
Wondering if we might possibly have a connection. I have a Christine Dunnet married to Magnus Banks. They had two children, Christina and David Banks. I have no locations for either, but David's great-grandmother is from Canisbuy. Does this sound at all familiar? I would assume they were born around the early 1900's?

I don't know of a connection here. I know little about this family aside from my direct line to the Dunnet/Laird couple.
I haven't found a marriage for their son John, but family history says that some of the sons died on the young side while on a rescue mission at sea. I suspect John may have been one of them.
