Please do so; that would be most helpful. I the earliest Dunsmoor I have is Thomas (b. 1828 in VT, d. 1913 in IA), then his son Frederick Melvin (b. 1855 in IA, d. 1928 in Cass County, IA).

I am a descendant of Grace Belle Dunsmoor, who is your Nancy Louisa Dunsmoor's sister. Their parents are Thomas Dunsmoor and Nancy Ann Weatherbee, from MA. That is as far back as I have in my information.

STEVENSON, Charles H.
Charles H. Stevenson died early Friday at his home, 232 Summit Avenue, aged 83 years. He was born in Midland. Md., the son of the late David and Matilda Stevenson and had been a resident of this city for twenty-six years. Before his retirement he was Sexton of St Mary's Catholic Church. He was a member of St Mary's Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society. Surviving are daughters: Mrs Herbert Niner; Mrs Leon Cook, Funkstown; Mrs Howard Jolliffe and Mrs Edward Trumpower, this city; sons, James, Charles, Thomas, Joseph and John H, this city; Wilbur, Morgantown, W Va; sisters, Miss Agnes Clise, Midland, Md; Mrs Belle Beeman, Frostburg, Md; Mrs Margaret Powell, Midland; half-brother, Harry Clise, Wheeling, W Va; thirty-four grandchildren and twenty-eight great grandchildren. The body was removed to the Kraiss Funeral Home where it may be viewed until Monday morning at 8:30 a.m. Requiem mass will be offered Monday morning at 9:00 a.m. at St Mary's Catholic Church, the Rev Father Charles Dausch celebrant. Interment in Rose Hill Cemetery. The Holy Name Society will meet at the Kraiss Funeral Home Sunday night at 7:00 to recite the Rosary.

Oliver was son of William Dunsmoor of Kilrea Northern Ireland, William born 1785 came to USA settled Boylston in approx 1730.

I had an uncle Oliver Dunsmoor. His fathers name was John Randall Dunsmoor. He had a son Oliver Jr. if you are looking in recent times. Have a history going back to the civil war.

Just saw your post of '08. My mother's maiden name was Densmore, daughter of Edgar Wilson, son of David Henry born in Preston Co., WV in 1854. David's brother, Frank was born 07/26/1897 and at some time lived in Carlos, Allegheny Co., MD. 1880 Census for Preston Co. lists David and Frank and an Alex, age 56, as a coal miner w/wife Mary and children John, Marion. Judging by ages listed I am guessing that Alex is father to David Henry. There is also an Archie, age 29, may be another brother. My mother's notes (which got me started on this) are as follows: Archie Densmore born Wiershire Scotland died app 1826 in Scotland. Alexanderia Walker Densmore born in Scotland 1823 died Newburg WV in 1901. Any of this help?? I've hit a blank wall on Archie/Archibald. What do you have???

I believe that the Dunsmoor that first moved to Strawberry Point was William Jr. in 1854. I can fill you in on some of his decendents from that time.

I'm looking for descendants of the Dunsmoor family that lived in Strawberry Point, IA, at the turn of the century. I have the name Jud Dunsmore (a young man in the 1890s), Nancy Dunsmoor, and Mr. & Mrs. E.N. Dunsmoor (a young couple in the 1890s).

Other last names associated with the Dunsmoors may include Troppman, Nichols, and Trozona.

my great great grandfather was Archibald Densmore, my dad said he was from Kirkwood, Nicholas county, West virginia and the family or some of the family moved to Carlos, MD near Frostburg, MD. My great grandfather was John Densmore and they lived in Frostburg, MD. He was a foreman in the mines there. Does anyone have any information on these Densmores?

I have an old Mallory family history from my grandmother. In this, it states that Moors Dunsmore was born in Vermont and died in Prescott, Ontario, Canada about 1868. Gary, I believe I know a bit about your family history -- Cylos T was the son of Albert Vandrous Dunsmoor, b. 1848 in Temple, ME. Wife Anna A. Ninde, b. 1861 They were married in 1879 in Pasadena.
Albert had 5 brothers, 4 migrated with him from Minnesota. They had moved there from Maine with their father, James Adam Dunsmoor, and mother Almira Mosher, a Mayflower desc.

Per my records, Cylos W. m(1) Claire Trevor. Their child, Charles was killed in a plane crash in 1978(?). He m(2) M.N. (that's all I know from the death record -- was this your mom?)

This is intriquing, but I am unable to make the connection.

Moors was a given name used several times in the Dunsmore family. The Moors (Moores) I am searching for died in 1868 and was buried in Prescott, Ontario. He was my g-g-g-grandfather. His wife, my ancestor, was Cynthia Avery who died in 1822...very likely he married again after that since he lived another 46 years.

One of his sons was my g-g-grandfather Edmund M. Dunsmore , B. 10-Sept-1810 in Clayton, Jeff. Cty. N.Y. (Married to Belinda Mallory, father Andrew Mallory, mother Mary Whitney, whose father was John Whitney) D. Ionia, Mi in 1860. He named one of his sons Moors.

Moors Dunsmore(2) (my info. regarding this Moors is that he was a Civil War Vet.) was born 22 Apr 1839, d.5 Oct. 1871, married Betsy J. McKeough 22 Apr 1861....his brother, Albert Clayton Dunsmore was my g-grandfather, father of my grandmother, Martha Whitney Dunsmore Green.

It is interesting to me that Whitney is also in this family, as well....

Are you able to make a connection from any of this?

Oliver Dunsmoor

Gail, I am pretty certain that Oliver's fathers' name
was John. In a copy of Lancaster History at the Lancaster
Mass Library is a notation made by Norse indicating such.
This is all I have.
Have you been able to get a copy of Oliver's death certificate? That would be one way to validate Oldfather's name.

Jim, While staying at a motel in VA, an employee asked me to try to help her find a brother & 2 sisters she only recently found out their existance. Here is the info she mailed to me.

She had no info as to possible mgs of the females.
She did say her mother was from WV.

Odd what subject, having a cup of coffee in a motel will bring. I had told her of my hobby of genealogy.

Your inquiry from last summer caught my eye because of the juxtaposition of your last name with Dunsmoor. I have been trying with no success to trace my Dunsmoor linage. My Grandfather was Cylos T. Dunsmoor of Los Angeles, CA (deceased around 1916) , married to Murilla Poole. My two great aunts were Katharine and Louise Poole, who lived together in Santa Barbara, CA. until their deaths.

I have Moors Dunsmoor/Densmore connected to our family tree. The information I have is:
Moors Dunsmore was the 2nd husband of Elizabeth Whitney (I believe her married name was Sutherland).
Elizabeth was the daughter of our ancestor, Marie Elisabeth Peters who was married to Eliakim Whitney.

Hello Jim: I havemy gr.grandfather Charles Dunsmoor who resided in Sherbrooke CA. Married to Annie Prise. I don't know if he died in CANADA or after moving to the US. Annie died abt 1934. He before that. She came to the US w/ 2 daughters around the turn of the century. Not sure if he was with her then. At that time both girls were young ladies (late teens)

I originally posted this query but have more and different information now. The line of descent which interests me is from Robert Dunsmuir b. abt 1665 Shettleston, to John DUNSMUIR who married Christian DONALD in Barony in 1710, to John Dunsmuir who married Agnes YOUNG in Govan in 1730 to John DUNSMORE b. 1740 in Carlene and christened in Barony, who married Mary PATERSON in 1769. My connection from there is through a daughter with the unusual name of Douglas Mary. She had a brother named Buchanan Dunsmore who lived in Cheadle, Staffordshire, England and had a son named John.

My 5th great-grandfather John DENSMORE m. Elizabeth AMOS 15 April, 1765, Hardwick, Worcester Co., MA. Born 11 March, 1741/42, New Braintree, MA, he was one of five children of Oliver DUNSMOOR and Barbara ANDERSON, and his sisters were Ann, Elizabeth,Jane, and Katherine.

Oliver was one of four brothers - William, John, and Thomas - all born in Northern Ireland, probably Kilrea. They came to Worcester Co.,Massachusetts around 1730, with their father, known only as "Oldfather".

In 1792, John DENSMORE purchased 550 acres of land around Richfield Springs, Otsego Co. NY, and moved his family there soon after. Within the family group were his sons Amos, John Jr., and Eliphalet; and his daughters and their husbands - Sophia and John WOODBURY, Tryphosa and Benjamin TUCKERMAN, Susan and Isaac SMITH, Nancy and Cyrus ROBINSON.

John served in the Revolutionary War and died 4 March, 1808. His wife Elizabeth (Betsy) died 13 Oct, 1803.

I'm interested in contact with any descendants of this line and would like to know the name of Oliver's father and more about the family in Northern Ireland and Scotland.

I also have a John Dunsmore from Scotland, although in the records it is also spelled Dunsmor, Dunmore and Dinsmuir. He was born in abt 1751. I believe his parents MAY have been Robert Dunsmore and Elizabeth Kerr of Inverkip or Innerkip in Renfrewshire.
I know he married Mary Pat(t)erson and they had at least 3 children born in Barony and Glasgow, Lanark, Scotland. The children were Buchanan b. 1777, Mary b. 1785 and Douglas Mary b. 1789 who married William Henry McKain. Anyone with connections, please get in touch with me.

I have not got round to researching this part of my family tree however I know that my mothers family came orginally from the west of Scotland. Buchanan is a family name she had a second cousin in Perth (Scotland )in the 1930's who had a clothes shop of that name.
I know also that two of her uncles settled in Minnesota USA
