Andrew Dunton born 1597/98 in England

I have searched for years to find the English roots for Andrew Dunton, who was born in 1597 or 1598 in England. The family has believed he came from Dunton, Essex.

We know that he is listed as Andrew Dunton on the passenger list of the Bonaventure in 1635, which left out of London. He came to Virginia and his descendants have been on The Eastern Shore of Virginia since.

I would greatly appreciate any help in knowing more about Andrew Dunton.

Thank you!

My ancestor, Anson Luman Clark, married Mary Frances Dunton (b. 1841) of Hiram P. Dunton and Belinda Harvey of Worcester MA.

I have inherited an album of carte de visites which contains many pictures from Worcester MA. Anson was from Clarksburg so some may be his family but I tend to think that many may be ancestors of Mary Frances, therefore Duntons and Harveys.

Iwould love to find any descendants of the Worcester Duntons who may also have photos for comparison.

Hey cousin, I didn't know Roy chewed. No wonder she wouldn't let him chew in the house. I remember when we went to visit then when they lived in Anaheim, we would watch the Disney fireworks each night from their house. We watched the moon landing there just before we went to Farmers Market. Rick tried to teach me how to swim and skateboard, he wasn't successful at either. And you are right they were such a cute couple, so very much in love.

Hello, my name is Ralph Dunton. I live outside of Deroit, MI. I'm doing research on my family history and have come to find out that my Great grandfather (Shelton Dunton) father was born in South Carolina. I don't know his name but wanted to reach out and see if there was anyone who would be able to help.

I have connected Duntons in SC to Samuell Dunton in Mass & have corresponded with Charles Dunton in GA, who is from that line. I don't have a Shelton, though. Do you have DOB or any other connections? There is also a sizable group of Duntons in VA desc. from Andrew Dunton & they are separate from the Dunton line that began in Mass.

Hi....My Aurilla (Etta) Dunton married Isaac WIREN (from Sweden) around 1891, they had 3 children (George Wiren, my grandfather, Ada G. Wiren & Helen Laura Wiren). Isaac & Aurilla died in Washington State in the 1920's and are (supposedly) buried in the Claquato Cemetery.
George DUNTON died in 1895 and Lucinda(UNKNOWN) after 1905, but I haven't found where they're buried yet. Aurilla may have had 2 brothers (Jason & Eugene). George Dunton (Senior) parents 'may' have been George W. & Marie (Barber) Dunton, but I haven't been able to verify it yet. So far this is about all I have on my Dunton line. Thanks!

Jul 11 1689, Reading, MA.

I have children for most of these families, but no time to type it all, most of this info has been researched, but I'm not 100% certain on everything, if you find anything that you can correct please let me know and I would appreciate swapping info on the Dickerman line, I don't connect that I know of until you get back to John 1665 from Reading, my line split from there but after years of research more times than not I've reconnected somewhere further down the line, good luck and write back, Wendy

They kinda reminded me of Granddad and Grandma in a way; they couldn't live with each other or without each other. Roy once told me that he didn't understand why a divorce had to be so difficult, if two people can't get along, let 'em split. Must have been one of those moments of wishful thinking.

I don't know whatever became of Rick, he and his girlfriend were living with Roy and Zola at the time of Zola's death, and it wasn't more than a couple of years later that Roy went to live with a granddaughter in K City. I know that Rick had lived there once himself, but I don't know if he went with Roy or tried to stay in SoCal on his own. He was in pretty rough shape, last time I saw him in 1985.

Harvey (Rick's dad) passed away in 2000, he was a respected concrete products designer. Rick is not mentioned in Harvey's obit.

I should add: Otho, Oral and Zola had at least one half-sibling that I know of; Myrtle was born in Ohio in 1880 and died in Lima, Ohio in 1970. She married a man named Sam Reams. She was the daughter of Thomas and first wife, Lucy Frisbee.

Roy Dunton was a milk delivery man in Orange Co., CA for many years. He and Zola had 5 sons: Clyde, Jason (Jay), John (Jack), Harvey and Vernon. Clyde is the only one I remember meeting, along with his wife, son and daughters, around 1965. Clyde and my dad looked so much alike it was almost scary.

I also met their grandson Rick several times (Roy and Zola raised Rick), I last saw him about 1985. Last I heard, he was living near Kansas City.

I just finished re-reading "Gengsang Jones' Ozark Tales", a book written by Zola's older brother Otho. It is absolutely a hoot and very well written.

Which of Roy and Zola' sons is your father?

Mark, your grandparents were my great-uncle and aunt, and I thought the world of them. They were wonderful people and we visited many times, most recently shortly before Zola passed away. They were certainly a cute couple.

Roy was born in 1904 in Lawrence County, MO and grew up near Brown's Spring in Stone County. His parents were Norman Jason "Jay" and Mary Elizabeth Sullivan Dunton. He was the second-oldest of 5; Sadie, Roy, Annie, Ethel and James. Sadie, Roy and James eventually moved to California. Roy died in Blue Springs, MO in 1996 and was cremated.

His mother died of TB when he was 9. Jay remarried Monzella Viers Plybon several years later, and they had 5 more kids.

Zola was born in 1904 near Ponce de Leon in Stone County and grew up there. Her parents were Thomas and Eleanor Pratt. She had two older brothers, Otho and Oral. Zola died of breast cancer in 1988.

Roy was a deacon in the Baptist church. In retirement, he and Zola liked to travel in their camper. Roy had two vices; he liked his beer and he enjoyed chewing tobacco. He and I would go 'out back' for a chew after a meal. He never chewed indoors, as an incident with Zola permanently precluded such activity:

One night, Roy went to bed and forgot to relinquish his chew. He rolled over in his sleep and spit in Zola's face. That put an end to tobacco in the house.
Re: Dunton's from Virginia

Wow it has been a long time since I was on! I have found this information also. The problem I am having is Arthur's parents I cant find any info on them whatsoever. His Wife Catherine O'Keefe's( or Katie) parents came from Ireland so that is a reasonable block because I dont have the World Membership yet. But from speaking with my grandmother (Arthur was her father in law) his family was From Virginia from way back. Any info on his parents or siblings would be greatly appreiciated! Thank You!
