Sister Theresa or Judy, my gg-grandfathe's brother Philogene Hymel [Himel] born abt 1859 St. Charles Parish, La. married March 24, 1883 Marie Mathilde Celeste Durapau, born May 21, 1859, died March 20, 1886, She was the daughter of Theophile Durapau, born July 3, 1830 in Edgard, La. St. John the Baptiste Parish, I do not think any children were born to them. What I would like to know, did Theophile and Angelina Durapau have other brothers or sisters. My Ancestor Mathilde Champagne was married to Alcebade Durapau, born abt. 1832, I just have a feeling he is their brother. Also Theophile's daughter Pauline Eleonore Durapau, born Jun. 22, 1860, died Apr. 13, 1936 married Andre Belsom Feb. 5, 1883, my ancestors are Belsoms, would you happen to know who were the parents of Andre Belsom? Did Andre Belsom and Pauline Durapau have children? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Bobbie Hymel Wade

I'm back! We have not gotten any further in our research, still stuck on Louis Rene Charles Jemot DuRapau, although we've had considerable success with the Cambre line.

I will be in touch if I find anything new.

I am a great-granddaughter of Theophile DuRapau, whose son, Jules was my grandfather's brother. (My grandfather was Paul Victor DuRapau, brother of Jules.) My brother and I have been, over the years, trying to get more information about our family, too. We go as far back as you (maybe not as far) in the sense that we got to Charles J. and his wife Arternise, but didn't know from whence they came. So who are you and are you in the N.O. area? Email me. It'd be great meeting some other family members. (I am a Sister of Mercy: Sr. Theresa M. DuRapau, RSM) <tdurapau@tulane.edu>

DuRapaus - New Orleans Area

I am searching for information on the DuRapau family of the New Orleans area. I can trace as far back as Louis Rene Charles Jemot DuRapau, bn. in France, who married Marie Arthemise Cambre, of Edgard, LA in 1829. Of particular interest would be any information on Theophile DuRapau (their son), or his wife, Elinore. They had a son, Jules, born 1863, who resided in N.O. and married Mary Laffey around 1885. Any information at all on this family would be greatly appreciated.
