I have some information about the Dure's of Devon.
Nicholas Dure (born 1754) married Hannah Pepperell(born 1753)in June 1776. They had seven children, Edward,Robert, Nicholas, Rebecca, John, Mary and Hannah,.Nicholas, christened in 1782,at Ford Independent Chapel, married Betty Michelmore (born 1786) in 1807. They had four children that I know of. There was John, Nicholas, Anna and Elizabeth (Betsy). John and Nicholas migrated to Canada in 1831 and 1836 respectively. They settled in Brock Township.
Anna too migrated to Canada but I do not know the year. I do not have any details about Betsy.
I do not know where Nicholas (born 1754) was born. My understanding is that this line of Dures originated
in France near the French/German border near Meurtre and Moselle. Pleae e-mail privately and I would be happy to exchange some information. David
