Sonia: I somehow missed you're last entry on the message board till today. The Most distant Durham I have found is Patrick Durham b. Abt. 1589 - Grange, Angushire, Scotland m. Janet Clayhills May 17, 1614. It seems that most of my Durham line is from Forfar, Scotland then Ireland, New Hampshire, Maine, New York, then Michigan where I was born and now live. If you come up with any connections I would be pleased to know that they are.
Thanks
Charles H.
Dear Charles,
I would love to know how far back in your research you have gone when did the earliest Durham of yours arrive! Name and Dates please? I can always try and link it up for you.
My Family of Durham are located from a village called Tysoe Warwickshire England which is just below Edgehill the site of many English Civil War Battles. I can trace lots of my family back to 1450 then it gets difficult! During the wars between the Scots & English and Wales & England the Durham family had marriages between the countries to save them from trade taxes. Sir Philip Durham was the Captain of Nelsons flagship Defiance at the Battle of Trafalager his brother raised an army of fencibles to fight the Irish Rebellion and it was a Durham who mapped the Isle of Man for the Napolionic wars with the French.
Let me have the earliest ancester that you know of and I will try to link my info up. I have a huge data base of them
Best Wishes from England

Sonia: My Durham line came from Grange and Forfar area Angus, Scotland. They went to the Londonderry area of Ireland, and then to Londonderry, Rockingham County, New Hampshire, then Waldo County, Maine, then, to Seneca County, New York, and finaly to Ottawa County, Michigan, which is in Western Michigan and near where I live. If you have any information on this line in the UK i would be happy to hear from you. Charles H.
