I am a Duschl who lives in Chicago. My Great grandfather came from Herzburg Germany. He was born in 1865 (Georg Duschl) He was married to Anna and moved here. We are the only Duschls in Chicago. It's such a weird name. I did some research and a lot of it comes from Austria. There is a Duschl Polka. Also look on the Duschl Facebook page. Good luck, sister.

Hi, Kevin. I haven't seen you since you were about two. Zola Dusch was my mother. She dies March 1 of this year. Her husband, Francis, died 5 1/2 years ago. Mel died seven or eight years ago. Ruth, his wife, is in Portland, close to their daughter, Rochelle.

Clair was 13 years older than I, and I remember him well. He was bright and good-looking, and he had a sense of humor.

Strangely, Zola saw a letter-to-the editor by a Clair Dusch who was living in Fragstaff, AZ. I tried to find this person, since the name is so unusual, but I haven't been able to locate him.

Your grandfather, Joe, was the son of Antone Dusch and Mary Ellen Sheehan. Antone's parents lived in Alsace, Lorraine. His mother was Odile Manger. When the parents died, Antone, a carpenter, went to Strasbourg, then worked his way around the country, winding up in Paris. Our grandfather said that he didn't want the Germans to force him to fight in the Franco-Prussian War.

He came to the United States, going first to New Orleans. From there, he went to Kansas, where he homesteaded land and built a sod house. By the time of his death, he had a big stone farmhouse, and he was on the Republican Party committee. At that time, the Republicans were the liberals. He also served on the school board.

I'll write more stuff about Grandmother's family later.

Please let me know what's happening with the rest of the family.

Dear Barbara,
Thanks so very much for the information. I hope to find out more as time goes by.
This internet stuff is amazing,, the information that is available. How did you manage to find my posting?
Dad died about 15 years ago, he went fast from cancer, he had moved back to Hastings, immediately prior to that he had resided in Maryville for many years, still working for U.P..
Isn't Mel the brother that used to live in AZ? If so, he was at dads funeral.
The best way to stay in touch, or contact myself is to write me at skydivekd@hotmail.com
I presently travel the country for work extensively, I am temporarily in Michigan. What part of the country are you in?
When was the last time you were in touch with Clair? You are right, he was very funny, and I used to have his nose, "many breaks changed that."
My sister Mary holds the strongets resemblance to dad of the three Dusch kids.
I will attach two pictures of myself for your review, I am in the green shirt seated in one, and I am the one with the skydive student strapped to my belly in the other.
I hope to hear back from you, thank you very much again for the information. I hope this note finds you very well.
Warm wishes,
Kevin C.Dusch

Bernard Dusch had a brother named Charles who married a Mary. They had a daughter named Emma who married John B. Lennon from Scotland. They had 6 kids. Thomas, John, Sarah, Catherine, Mary Gertrude, and James Robert. James Robert is my father-in-law.
I've found Bernard Dusch to have had several brothers and sisters. Charles, Bernice, Carrie, Edward, George Frank, John, and possibly an Elizabeth. I haven't been able to go back any further yet. All if these people seemed to have lived in Fairmont, Wv.
Was your mother Barbara, Bernard's sister?

I would be happy to share anything I can with you. However, most of what I know I have heard from my family. I am positive that I am related to Diana, the woman looking for information on Frederick Louis Duschl. My Great-Grandfather anf Frederick were brothers. Besides my family, I know very little about the Duschls. I can tell you that my family came from Austria. I would love to know any history you might have concerning the name Duschl. I have had so much trouble finding anyone with the name Duschl. It seems that almost all those with the last name Duschl still live in Germany and Austria. Just for fun, I have an aunt named Linda Duschl and my mother's maiden name was Linda Duschl. If you think of anything that I might be able to find for you post a message and I'll try my best to find the info.
Theresa

I, too, am looking for information on the Duschl Family. My Grandfather, Frederick Louis Duschl, moved to Tiptonville, TN from somewhere in Illinois (I think it was a town called Anna, but not sure). He came from a German-speaking community up there. I think that his parents were German Immigrants. Again, not sure. Anyway, I have his birth date & date of death somewhere (you can find it in the SSDI Death Index). I sure hope that we find out we're cousins because I'd like some information about my great-grandparents. You can email me directly at the address below.

Dianna Varady
dvarady@aol.com
