Frank Dustman is possibly my great grandfather. My great grandfather married Nettie Ware. They had a son, Sam Jennings Dustman in 1-8-1910. Sam then married, Merle (Sparks)Jagger Mariacher and they had two sons, Sam Dustman and John Dustman. Merle already had six children and then together Sam and Merle adopted my mother, Sherry Dustman (who passed away in 1988). Both sons are said to live in California though both were born in Port Angeles, WA.

Hi - My name is Sally, my great-grandmother is a Dustman. We just went to Gettysburg last weekend, there is a book by Timothy H. Smith called 'The Story of Lee's Headquarters' which has info on both John Dustman and Casper Henry Dustman, who lived on Seminary Ridge and nursed wounded in his barn. I've written to Mr. Smith to see if he has more info. His books are available on line. Hope this helps! Sally in Strongsville, Ohio

Henry Dustman

My Rufus Reynolds born 1800 somewhere in Connecticut lived in Boardman Ohio from about 1824 to 1848 before he moved to Lake Mills, Jefferson Wisconsin. his wife was Elizabeth (Betsey) born about 1803. My DNA matches me to families from Frederick Maryland. So I started thinking what if Elizabeth was born in Boardman, so I went trhough all the families in the 1804 census of Boardman. I found a few (Dustman)to be one of them. I also typed in some of the Surnames relted to this line before 1800, and came up with a good match on all of them as well. I haven't been able to find any real good links? Until tonight I came across a Henry Dustman married in Jefferson County Wisconsin in 1864 to an Ann C. Bailey. So I looked him up in 1870 and found he is in Winona Minnesota twice, one says he was born in 1819 in Ohio, and the other says he was born in Connecticut(where my Reynolds is from). He had 2 boys Harry L. Dustman and Leafy H. Dustman

The Dustman(n) surname was first used in Westerenger, Herford County, Westfalen, Germany (1488). My great-great-great-grandfather lived on the Dustmann farm in Westerenger in the 18th century. But not all Dustman(n)'s have the same origin.
Arnold Friedrich (Frederick) is buried in Chambers Cemetery, Van Buren County, Michigan. I found his grave by the help of findagrave.com. The date of his death seems to be March, 10, 1891, if the informations of Karen Clinard at findagrave are correct. The date of his birth is May, 15th, 1838, as I know from an emigration file of the county of Herford, Germany (chritening May, 24th, 1838, Enger, Herford, Germany). He is a cousin of my grandfather. Most of the family (father, mother and one sister) lived in South Haven. Only his younger brother John Henry lived in Gettysburg (probably with his uncle).

Hi,

I don't know if this is much help to you. I came across the surname Dustman in an obituary. Seems to be the same places. Edwardsville and Worden, Illinois.

Found an obit for Henry F. Pieper in the Edwardsville Intelligencer paper which also included his wifes obituary. They died within days of each other in May, 1951.

His wife Anna-(Potrafka?)-Pieper's obit stated that while the final rights were being held in Edwardsville for her husband, Mrs Anna Pieper of 105 Linden Street died Wednsday at 3:30 p.m. in St. Joseph Hospital in Highland where she had been a patient for the past eight days. The husband Henry F. Pieper died at the couples residence Saturday at 6 a.m.

She was born Nov. 23, 1878, in Pinow, Germany and came to this country at age 17 settling in DECATUR. She had attained the age of 72 years, six months, and 7 days. She was married to Henry F. Pieper in 1903 in Decatur. The couple moved to Worden where they lived several years. For the past 48 years they resided in this city.

She is survived by one daughter, Miss Ruth Pieper of this city; [Edwardsville, Illinois] and one son; Water J. Pieper of Detroit, Mich.; one brother Fritz POTRAFKA........two sisters and one grandchild. One son Paul F. Pieper, preceded her in death. Other survivors are three step-daughters, Mrs. Eleanor Metzger of this city, Mrs Adoph (Martha) Mueller***? of Clayton, Mo., and Mrs. Margaret Moeller***? of Kansas City, Mo.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

<calling times> and burial at Valley View Cemetery.

Pallbearers for both Henry and Anna included Richard and Edward [sic] Sahs. (My grandfather and my uncle.)

Other pallbearers were John Weber, Richard Hartung, Jack Michaels, and Chris F. Dustman. ******

Perhaps records of Trinity Lutheran Church might shed light on your Dustman family? Or records at Valley View cemetery.

Regards,
Barbie
I've traced the Dustman tree back to Wiertemburg Germany. Henry did marry Elizabeth Frank, her father was Baltzer Frank from Alsace Lorraine. From what I can tell Henry had a brother named Jacob who was a member of the Washington County Frontier Rangers in the later 1700's. Henry had many children, the line I'm related to is Solomon Dustman. If anyone would like more information please contact me (sandstorm1981@hotmail.com), I have much more information including pictures of census records etc, some pictures of Dustmans in the later 1800's. I'm at work now otherwise I would type ALL the things that I've found out. Leave me a message and I can get back to you when I'm home.

Have a Jonas who served in the civil war 1861-1864; his children George(b.1859), Mary, Catherine(b.1862). George's children: Paul, Mary, Helen, Charles (my grandfather) 1897-1966, and Lester(b.1907). I know where Mary, Lester and Helen ended up, but have been unable to locate Paul. According to the 1966 obit for Charles, his brother Paul was in Nebraska, but have not been able to verify. I've searched under all possible spellings and have come up empty! Do any of these names sound familiar? If so, we need to "talk."
Hopefully this response will be a little more helpful. Jonathan Dustman born Jul 9, 1811 in Boardman Twp, Trumbull Cty, Ohio first married Elizabeth Ohl who was born Jun 28, 1810 in Austintown Twp, Mahoning Cty, Ohio. They were married Dec. 24, 1832 in Weathersfield Twp, Trumbull Cty, Ohio. She died Nov 11, 1847 and he remarried Agnes Meyer of Huntington, Indiana around 1849. Jonathan died Apr 28, 1901 in Michigan. The 1840 census I looked at had Jonathan Dustman listed, with a total of 6 occupants in the home -- it didn't say the wife's name. Most of this I believe is from the mormon records. -Deb B.

Not sure where I got it, but I have Johann Doftman or Dustman b: 1834 married to a Mary Henry, not Mary Pitts. Their 5 children were Elisabeth, Anna, Isaiah, John J., and and Frank. I also have that she remarried Gerrett Soulon. Maybe you will find this Mary Henry in the census.
Hope this helps.
-Deb
