I'm researching the Benjamin Franklin Duty family for friends of mine. He was born 12/1860, lived in Wilkinson Co., Mississippi. His wife was Carrie A. Brown born 9/1867. They both seem to have died sometime after 1920. I found a death record for a Carrie A. Brown Duty in East Feliciana Parish, LA in 1924, but can't be certain it's the same person.
Their children, as best as I can piece together from the census records, were William Walter Duty, Benjamin Franklin Duty, Jr., George Brown Duty, Emma E. Duty, Eugene Whitly Duty, Irma M. Duty and John T. Duty. I've found census records and WWI draft registration cards for William Walter, Benjamin Franklin Jr., and George Brown, but except for George Brown, am not having much luck finding cemetery records or death dates for the parents or children. Some seem to have stayed in Mississippi; others went to Texas.
I can't be sure who Benjamin Franklin's parents were, either. In the 1860 Wilkinson Co., MS census I find B. F. Duty, 33, wife Amanda, 20. The marriage records indicate Amanda Shropshire married William F. Duty, which is confusing.
In the 1850 census, same county, I find G. W. Duty, 24, and B. F. Duty, 22, both working as planters for John Sturbridge. And there is a marriage record for a Benjamin Duty and Jane Anderson in Wilkinson Co. in 1822, but I can't find these people in the census.
Are there people researching these families?
