BOARDMAN, OH – Mary Bagan, 89, passed away very early Wednesday morning, Aug. 22, 2012, at Assumption Village Nursing Home in North Lima, Ohio.

Mary was born Sept. 21, 1922, in Ukraine, a daughter of the late Alexander and Katherine Kowal Dwulit, and came to America and Youngstown, Ohio in 1949.

Mrs. Bagan worked for many years at the Park Inn.

She was an active member of St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church in Austintown, Ohio where she enjoyed making pyrohy and working at the church’s annual festival.
Mary was also a member of the St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Fraternal Society, Branch No. 230.

Her husband, John Bagan, whom she married in 1950, passed away in Nov. 12, 1999.

Mary leaves three daughters, Kathy Kurach of Boardman, Ohio with whom she made her home, Mary Ann Kotyk of Longwood, Florida, and Julie (Jeff) Greenwald of Junction City, Oregon; six grandchildren, Karen (Dan) Testa of Poland, Ohio, Camarie Greenwald of Los Angeles, Keegan Greenwald of Portland, Ore., and Christopher, John, and Paul Kotyk, each of Longwood, all of whom loved their “Baba;” two great-grandchildren, Andrew and Emily Testa, who also loved their “Baba;” two sisters, Rozalia Szmuc of Port Orange, Florida and Anna Dombrowski of Europe; and two brothers, Gregory and Stephen Dwulit, both in Europe.

Besides her husband, Mary was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and Michael Dwulit; and a sister, Katherine Dwulit.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 24, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road, Youngstown, Ohio and where a prayer service will take place at 3:45 p.m.

Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home, and continue at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church, on the corner of Kirk and Raccoon Roads in Austintown, OHIO.

Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown, where Mary will be laid to rest next to her husband.

Mary’s family thanks the staff of Assumption Village for the kindness shown and wonderful care given to Mary during her stay there.

In lieu of flowers, Mary had requested that memorial contributions be made to St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church, 4310 Kirk Road, 44515.
