Unfortunately, I don't believe that the above link that I posted worked, so look up the WorldConnect info. for John or Sylvester Dwyer and then you can see it. It was posted by SiouxCitySue.

Also, a few things I forgot to mention in the above post:

John Dwyer was born in 1888 or 1889. His birthplace is listed as Graceville, MN on my document, and his age is listed as 33 yrs. of age in 1921. Mary Murray's is listed as 28 yrs.

It's also stated that John Dwyer was a truck driver for Standard Oil. Mary was a housewife.

Edna Finley Dwyer was born in ND in 1926 and died in Los Angeles in 1957. Her maiden name was Bucholtz. I have a different document that lists her maiden name as Fey. I'm not certain which one is correct as I now have conflicting info.

Richard, first, thank you so much for posting this thread! You have no idea what this info. means to me.

I believe I have a few answers for you regarding John Joseph Dwyer of Great Falls, Montana.

He married Mary Johanna Murray, and they had six to eight children, some in MN, and some in ND. Their names were Beatrice, Clyle, Joe, Sylvester, Cyril and Patrick. I have a copy of a document that states that there were eight children living, but Sylvester's obit. lists six. Please see link for John below:

http://www.worldconnect.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cg...

Mary Johanna Murray died in Los Angeles in 1988.

John and Mary had Cyril Dwyer in 1921 in Tintah, MN. Cyril married Edna Fey or Finley in ND and they had a son, Daniel John Dwyer in ND in 1949. They later moved to the Los Angeles area. Dan died in a car accident in San Jose, CA in 1976. Cyril died in Oroville, Butte Co. CA. in 1995, after previously living in Sunnyvale, Ca. He had a second spouse named Lavonne.

Richard, if you or ANYONE else has any other information for me regarding this family line, PLEASE post it here or contact me directly at: leighcrutch@yahoo.com

Thank you so much!

Joseph Dwyer was born in Co. Waterford, Ireland, married Margaret Edington from Galway. Was in the British Military and later in Quebec was in The Royal Canadian Rifles. Came to London, Ontario about 1861-66 where he joined the RCR's again.

Need parents names and where they lived in Waterford.

Apparently my grandfather John William Dwyer used to visit relatives in Chicago in 1890's - also Dwyers. While in Chicago he joined the Pulman Band.........? I have a picture of him in the uniform. Anyone heard of the Pulman Band?

I am just now reading your message about the Dwyers from Kerry. I have been looking for a Thomas Dwyer christened 4 June 1851 or 52. He and his parents I think came to Boston. Information says his mother was Honora Silver. He is my g grandfather. I have information on him from 1879 forward until his death.

For six years I have not been able to find his life before 1879 except information that was in his obiturary and from my grandmother.

His obit says when he was quite young he went to NYC and worked as reporter on the NY Times for several years. He joined the French army and served in the Franco-Prussian war, being at the battle of Sedan and siege of Paris. In later life he owned a marble company and made elaborate marble carving and engraving for cemeteries. I have the door stop he made for my grandmother.

My grandmother said when he went to private Catholic school in Hartford, CT. When it came time for him to continue on and study for the priesthood he told his father he would not become a priest. His father told him to leave home and to never return. This is when he went to NYC.

I have from Hartford,CT where Thomas and Margaret Dwyer had a baby girl Oct.11, 1854 with his occupation being a artisan. April 19, 1855 Thomas Dwyer had a baby boy and listed Thomas occupation artisian.

I think my Thomas's father may have been a marble worker also or some extended member of his family was..

I would appreciate any help you can give me and I would think family members siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, would like to know what happened to him.

Bobbie

There may be a connection. My Thomas is listed in Fallowfield Twp. (later split into Pike Run Twp.) Washington Co., Pa. Tax Roll in 1786. He then is listed in the 1790 Census. He later patented land around 1797 in Pike Run Twp.

In the Wash. Co. Orphan's Court records (Book B, p. 228)of Mar 1809 he is listed as died intestate (without a will) with debts. The Court ordered 100 acres to be sold to pay debts and to support his minor children. Of course -they are not named!

I believe that my proven ancestor, William, born ca. 1806 in Pa. and lived in Pike Run Twp. was the above Thomas Dwier's son. It is also possible that your Thomas was an older brother to my William -the time frame would be right. Please email me directly with your thoughts on this matter.

Hi Rick
Perhaps there is an outside chance that your William Dwyer is linked to the Dwyers of Ballina where my great grandad Wm Dwyer was drowned in 1901 At that time my Grandad George Dwyer was 30
Wm had 6 sons in the British Army and was commended for this by the Queen
His Dad may also have been called William as there appears to have been a family tradition that the first born son was named after the paternal grandad and the first born girl after the maternal grandma
Hope this helps....
Gerry Dwyer
Livingston Scotland

Hello;
I know of a Philip Dwyer in Kitchener , Ontario but don't know if he is on any Ancestry sites. I actually was wanting to ask you if you could tell me where I could get some assistance in finding out some information on relatives who lived in New Glasgow and at least one of them was born there in 1924. Their surname is Wilford. Wilford's who now live in Scranton,PA still own the land although no one lives there as far as I know. If I am able to get the lot or address or Roll number could you tell me how to find out more about the property and possibly their history there?

My name is Brenda Doyle and I live in Ontario and you can contact me at boots911@xplornet.com

Sincerely,

Brenda Doyle

I am replying to my own message. I have found out my great great grandfather was born in Rensselaer county, Upstate New York. The years were between about 1855 and 1885. His parents names were Thomas Dwyer , sometiems spelled Dewyer. His mother was Jane Mc Nerheny. The McNerheny family also lived in the area and she had a brother named William. I think my Great Great Grandfather Albert also went by the name James as his middle name. He had a brother named Eugene , Fred (b1875) , sisters Hannah (b1861)and Anges, Joseph (b1872), Frank and sister Ellen J(b1859) Dwyer. The brother Eugene J ( b 1864) worked with him in Manhattan in 1889 1890. They worked as a Union Carpeneter. Eugene lived in Waterbury Connecticut. If anyone has any information on Eugene Dwyers family please contact me

Mom goes by her adopted name.

However, my mother was adopted, so information on her biological (Dwyer) family is proving to be a challenge.

So, if anyone has Chicago Dwyers, with a John Dwyer and daughter, Rita, (there were other kids) ... I would like to swap info.

~ Barbara Eyre

My gg grandfather, Jeremiah Dwyer, was born in Tipperary about 1817. He was a widower with a 3 year old son when he married Anna Rooney (my gg grandmother) in 1849 in St. Louis, Missouri.

He is my brick wall! I don't know when he came to the U.S. or where. The family story was that he brought the boy from Ireland, but I think he was actually born in Missouri.

Always looking for leads. Does anyone know how common a name Dwyer (or maybe O'Dwyer) was in Tipperary County?

This sounds like the book by Barbara Birmingham -- I think that the title is History of the Dwyer Family.

I also think that I know your grandfather -- age in the 70s and lives in California?

The John Dwyer that you mention (1844-1925) is my ggfather (and your grandfather's). Harold and his brother Gerald lived with my grandmother as teens.

I'm out of town at the moment, so don't have the book or the genealogy database at my fingertips. I do have pretty much the complete information on this family, except for recent births, marriages, and deaths.

Tom

Hi,

It's been a long time since your original post so I hope your still interested. I've been researching my wife's family tree and I think that Patrick was her great great grandfather. Looking at the 1871 England Census when the family were living in Aston, Birmingham there appears to be a couple more children

Catherine b. abt 1860 in Cork and
William John b. abt 1856 in Brecon

I believe William John is my wife's great grandfather

I think this is right (I'm at work at the moment so I don't have all my documentation).

Please let me know if this fits with your current research.

Cheers,

Andy

Not much information. One document says her birth mother was born in Staten Island. My mother was baptized at St. Vincent's in Staten Island.
Kind of a sad situation as the home she was placed with was not the happiest. Her birth mother tried to make contact with her at least a couple of times. Her adoptive parents did not finalize the adoption for many years (after a contact attempt from her birth mother). Reading some accounts that the parents of some Orphan Train children were not told that they were giving up permanent custody makes one wonder.
I did learn recently of a report that a brother tried to make contact with her as an adult. Word has it that he was living in Denver. I'm guessing it would have been late '50s or early '60's. We don't have a name and apparently they never made contact.

It speaks of Richard Dwyer 1830-1870/1880, mary dywer 1832 twic to timothy, timothy dwyer 1832-1905,brigid dwyer 1839-1896 john dwyer 1844-1925 margaret dwyer 1846-1930..all of their children and gradnchildren...it speaks of many others Archbishop robert dwyerCathrine O'neil Dwyer mary sullivan john dwyer... but there are far too many for me to type right now. My grandfather grew up in detriot Michigan. His father i think his name was harold, was a doctor. I am very interested in learning more than what is in this book. There is a comedian I can't think of his name but his last name is dwyer and he very much looks like my grandfather. If anyone has any information let me know....

Hi, I`m also researching the Dwyer family name from Liverpool as my mum is a Dwyer and from Liverpool Originally

her father was born in 1909 we think in Liverpool, and I believe he was the son of the William Dwyer and Catherine Clarke that you are researching, my mothers , Father was named John Edward Dwyer and he had two brothers as far as my mum can remember Michael Dwyer and Joseph Dwyer, there may have been more but my mum was young when her dad died and her mum moved down south soon after that.

Hope this is a connection

Kind Regards

Chris George
