Obit of Mrs. August (Maggie Dwyer) Foreburger 1909

From the Chatsworth Plaindealer
Chatsworth,Livingston,Illinois

MRS. AUGUST (MAGGIE DWYER) FOREBURGER
MARCH 26, 1909

On Saturday (Mar. 20) at about five o'clock at the family home in Charlotte township, occurred the death of Mrs. August Foreburger, after a long and patient suffering.
Maggie Dwyer was born in Henry, Marshall county, Illinois, December 20, 1861. Her parents moved to Forrest about thirty five years ago and on April 7, 1895, she was united in marriage with August Foreburger, the ceremony being performed by Father Workler, at Fairbury. Five children were born to the union, two dying in infancy. At the time of her death Mrs. Foreburger was rearing, in addition to her own three children, John and Mabel Harris.
Mrs. Foreburger was the eldest child of a family of nine children. Besides her husband , three children and two foster children, she is survived by the following brothers and sisters; David, of Henry; Mrs. J.E. Williams, of St. Louis; Daniel, of Fairbury; Steve and James of Forrest.
Her health being poor, she was taken to St. Mary's hospital in Chicago and later to St. John's hospital in St. Louis, and after leaving the hospital spent two weeks at the home of her sister, Mrs. J.E. Williams, in St. Louis, under the care of physicians, coming home a short time ago. Everything that could be done was done for her comfort and in the futile effort to restore her to health.
The funeral services were held on Monday morning at SS. Peter and Paul's church, Rev. Father White, of Cullom, officiating, and the remains were taken to Strawn cemetery for interment. Mrs. Foreburger was a member of the Cullom parish and the funeral was attended by a large number of sympathizing friends, who extend condolence to the bereaved family.

Hank, as far as my records go we have no connection to America at all on my line of the family. Certainly all the males remained in Ireland from the 1700's until my grandfather and his brother moved to the UK after WW1. Also, we do not have any 'James' in our branch. The line goes back (from my g-f): Co.Cork (2 generations) Killarney Co. Kerry (2 generations) Border Co. Tipperary/Co. Waterford (2 generations) then Border Co. Limerick/Co. Tipperary c.1720. Sorry I couldn't have been more help!

PJ,

I am interested in James & Ellen Dwyer.
They had a daughter named Mary who married my GGGF, Jeremiah Mainey / Maney / Meaney in RI in 1861.
Jeremiah & Mary had a son named Lot who was born in Cohoes, Albany, NY in Nov 1861.
Shortly later, they were back in RI.
It is puzzling that they were in NY only briefly, unless they went there to be near her parents for the birth of the baby.
So, there is some chance that James & Ellen were in the Albany area.

HankC

I'm trying to find any information on Patrick NY and Anna McCaully. They had 3 maybe 4 daughters (Anna born in NY 1893 or 94) who married James Barlett), Sarah (later known as Sadie) born 1896 who married York Butler and then possibly a May (or Mae). I have a note that Anna had 3 sisters but I only know for sure about Sarah. Not sure where Patrick or Anna were born but their children were born in New York state (probably Brooklyn) (and Anna and Sarah lived in Brooklyn as adults)

I have Dwyer connections in Rhode Island area...The original Dwyers I'm connected to left Ireland together and some went to Nova Scotia(my direct connection) in the early 1800s and the others went to Rhode Island area. I know my great, great, great gran father's first name was John. My Father's Aunt Rita Dwyer went to visit family there and ended up marrying a gentleman from there. Wish I could tell you more.
A possible relative.

Dear Janet,
I apologize for not following up. When you wrote I was at my mothers house because her husband was sick. He died in mid march and things just kept getting worse- which hardly seemed possible. Mom died 10 months later, after selling her house and moving, with another death in between them and I'm just starting to dig out from under it all. I found the copy of your post that I printed back then, and though I still haven't put all the information I thought I'd let you know why you hadn't heard from me. This is really a fascinating chain of information, and I DO appreciate your writing. Would you like me to send you a copy of the scanned letter?

Have lots of information on him from town histories (Pomfret, Vt and Fairhaven, Vt).
Hi,
I'm responding to your post dated 2003 on Jeremiah Howard Dwyer. He's my great great great grandfather. There's quite a bit of information in the Dwyer/Wood public family tree in ancestry.com. If you're a member I can share that tree with you. If not, I can provide the info by e-mail. We're currently researching his father, Jeremiah (Jeremy) Dwyer, but not finding much. Please contact me if you're still pursuing this.

Best Regards,
John Dwyer

I have. I have a lot of info from the Catholic Diocese at least. I know Patrick and Margaret were god parents to one of Edward's kids. And when my great grand mother Sarah McClelland Dwyer had her 4th daughter a "Edward and Eliza Murray" were god parents. I know they had to be a close relation of some sort. I am betting the family that raised Sarah McClelland, once orphaned. But I have no definitive answers. And I can't get beyond Edward Dwyer as far as parents go. I don't even know what part of Ireland they are from (Sarah McClelland is from Killyleagh in Down Northern Ireland). And I'm just guessing by age that Patrick and Thomas Dwyer were brothers to Edward.

I would check the Catholic Church. They kept really good records. If they aren't Catholic, then I would still check with the church. Also when a church dissolves their records usually go with the new church.

I found my husbands grandmother and her parents and where they were from and where they lived and where they died and were buried, even the jobs they held; through a Catholic priest, that kept the genealogy on the Irish parishoners.
This is a long shot, I've been searching forever.

What I know is Edward Dwyer (1839-1890) came from Ireland around 1860 (or sometime before) to Pittsburgh. It appears he had a brother Patrick (1832-1873) who was married to a Margaret (1832-1882) Patrick and Margaret had daughter Ellen and Minnie, Edward I think perhaps had another brother named Thomas. They seemed to live on Tunnel Street in the Sharpsburg area of Pittsburg(h) in the 1860-1870s.

Edward met and married Alice Gleason (1838-1878-born in Ireland), daughter of John and Margaret.

Edward and Alice had 7 children, Ella (1863-1947 never married), John Francis (1867-1909), Katherine (Kit) (1868-1958), Edward J (1872-1906), James C (1875-between 1912 and 1917), Margaret Regina (1876-1958), William (1877-1917).

None of the men married except John Francis. (My great grand father). He had no sons. He married Sarah Elizabeth McClelland in 1898. Sarah was an orphan and brought to America by "someone" in the family. Do not know who she was raised by or who brought her though.

Edward J, the son-was killed in a train accident in Pulaski Wisconsin on 19, Sept 1906. but I know not what type of train accident or what lead to him even being in Wisconsin.

Katherine (Kit) married in old age to a high school sweetheart, Edward McCafferty.

Any info anyone has, is appreciate.

Hi There,

I think that Mia Mary Margaret Formosa is my father's cousin.

My father is called John Hamilton and his aunt (Margaret Jane Hamilton who married John Dwyer) was Mia Mary Margaret Formosa's mother. I have been trying to track down any of my father's relatives on his paternal side. Dad's father (my grandfather) died in 1945 and we know very little about this side of the family.

I would love to hear from you, and to see copies of any photos you may have. I would also be very interested to see how far back you have managed to get with the Hamilton family tree. Did you know that Mia's grandmother (Margaret Stringer) came from Armagh, N. Ireland? I have found quite a lot of information on this part of the family.

Is Mia still alive? My father often wondered what happened to his cousins. Do you keep in touch with Mia's sisters; Mary and Margaret? There was also a brother (John Dwyer) but he died as a baby.

I really hope that I hear back from you soon.

Kind regards,
Suzanne Clark (nee Hamilton)

Re: Frank Dwyer

Hi there,

I first off would like to say thank you for posting, and secondly for taking so very long to respond back. Life has gotten in the way of my search but I am trying to get back on track here. I am searching for a man by the name Of Frank Dwyer whos Father was Joseph Francis Dwyer and also had a brother named Gary Francis Dwyer. My Father was Gary who passed away in 1976. At that time my Mother was told by Frank that he was sorry but he would not be able to keep in touch with her because of his Father who was not a nice man and did not want anything to do with their Father Joe. If this sounds like anything that you might know about or maybe we can try to see if we might be related this would mean a great deal to my brother and I. Here is a little information about what I know:

Here is a little more info on my Uncle. His name is Joseph Francis Dwyer and he lived in Dover Delaware ( I dont know how long though) he was a Cap. in the Air Force and a pilot. . Thank you:)
DWYER found >1891, Fulwood Barracks, Lancs.

Whilst browsing the records for DWYER in Lancashire (particularly in Liverpool) I came across this data:
1891 census Fulwood Barracks, near Preston, Lancs.
Of 42 pages, The Royal Sussex Regiment fills pages 1-28.
The follwing are from the North Lancs. Regiment who were normally garrisoned there ....
RG12 / 3448 / f.170 / p.35 sch. #12
William DWYER, 38, Sgt./Maj. N.Lancs Reg't, Limerick, Ire.
Gerladine Dwyer 12, Dublin
Minnie Dwyer 11, Kildare
William Dwyer 9, Carragh (see: Co. Kildare)
Maud Dwyer 3, Preston, Lancs.
Frederick Dwyer 1, Preston, Lancs.
There're a few entries for Leicester Reg't; Army Service Corps; Army pay depot; Medical Corps; & Royal Engineers.

I'm searching for a William Dwyer, father of Eliza Dwyer. He is recorded on her marriage cert. as a soldier.
Both very likely born in Ireland. Eliza is my Gt.Grandma. She married JAMES BARRY, Liverpool 25 Jan, 1869 and had one son, my gran'dad John, b.1876, 3 July in Everton.

John Barry enlisted in the LOYAL NORTH LANCS. REG'T, possibly at Fulwood (but not evidenced) and his battalion was shipped to Shornecliff Camp, Cheriton & Sandgate, Kent where he met and married, in 1901, my grandma, who was from Folkestone.

I am pursuing the DWYER thread and would welcome any exchanges with fellow researchers. I have so very little to go on. But, nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Regards all, Ken BARRY, (Eyemouth)

Carmel
Nothing definite. I have an Edward P dying in Kemsey NSW in 1922, parents Edward and Mary - no surnames.
I have a big maybe for Johanna - marry John Henry Hennelly in 1920. The clue is - what is Johanna's middle name? If I could find that I could link to this marriage. If this correct then she dies after 1964
Catherine - nothing.
Can you help me? What happened to Bridget Cecilia?
Cheers
Brendan

Hi Brendan
Yes I am a Reedy descendant. I have been to the property out at Ripley Bundamba Creek near Ipswich where they lived and taken photos, also to the area around Ballyea, Kilmaley and Ennis town in Clare Ireland. I have taken photos of the headstone of Patrick and Margaret(McMahon)in Ipswich and have a copy of Patrick's will. My main problem is family of Edward and Mary. I can only find information on 6 of the 9 re marrriage family and death. I can't find anything on 3 of them Edward b 1881, Catherine b 1884 and Johanna b 1889. Do you have any ideas on what happened to these 3?
Regards, Carmel
