Dean
I was thrilled when I checked in today
and saw that you replyed to my message.
It is a very interesting site. I now have the
book that I wrote about, Its hardcover
and consists of 303 pages. It is very detailed and has alot of information on the Dyck family line that begins with Jacob Dyck and Elisabeth (Jaeger) Dyck, both of
Kronsthal, Chortitza, Russia. Their children are Elisabeth, Maria, Jacob and Carl.
My branch stems from the son Jacob Dyck who married Elisabeth Wiebe on June 8/1899 in Russia. They emmigrated to Canada and settled in Winkler, Manitoba.
at about 1904, Following Jacobs parents and siblings who were already in Manitoba.
My grandfather was Henry Dyck, born December,24/1914 along with his twin sister Agatha., to Jacob E Dyck and Elisabeth (Wiebe)Dyck, If Iam reading this
book right, my grandfather and his sister
were the only two children born in Canada, the other siblings were born in Russia.
My grandfather was married twice, the first marriage resulted in three sons, John,
Neil (my father) and Harry. The second marriage resulted in four more children,
two sons and two daughters.. My grandfather settled in Yorkton Sask, and
raised his second family there. And later moved to Winfield BC. He just recently passed away on Dec,4/1999. That is when my grandmother gave me this book,
after the funeral. My father was to receive the book, but he passed away before my
grandmother could give it to him..
If any of these names mean anything to you or you have information to add could
you let me know.
Thank-you
Brenda (Dyck)Silk
PS the religion on the Dyck family in this book is Mennonite, that seems to be the
religious background of all Dyck families that I've been reading and hearing about.
