Hello James,

I only recently discovered that Isaac Deeks of Newcastle, 1843, who married Emma Sumpter, took the surname Dyckes. Some of his siblings took the surname Dykes whilst other seem to have returned to the surname Deeks.

After a contact with Judith Dyckes, nee Cobon, I was able to construct a fairly complete family tree history for this family which started with William Deeks 1805 of Great Oakley and Sarah Garnett of Wakfield 1809.

From my findings I believe you are the son of Edward Dyckes who went to Australia with his secod wife Joan Sweeney. If you are interested I have a pdf file with the information that I have collected from the census and BMD records so far which I can share with you if you are willing to exchange information.

My interest here is that William Deeks 1805 was a nephew of my 3Ggrandfather Charles Deeks 1787 of Great Oakley. I am constructing a family tree table for the ancestors of Charles Deeks' grandfather, Isaac Deeks 1738, down to as near the present as I can do so. There are around 1500 descendant and spouses so far.

Regards,

Hugh Deeks

I have recently joined Ancestry .co and am interested in any information on Issac Dyckes up to his mariage in September 1867. It is possible his widow, Emma, was living with my grandfather in 1901. My grandfather was Walter Dyckes third child of Isaac and Emma Dyckes.
