Burges/Lancaster/Murray in Ireland

Great Grandfather James Henry Lancaster Born @ 1838-1840,Ireland married a Susanna Murray born @ 1835,Ireland and married in the U.S.A.sometime in the 1860's. He was a cooper. They had 5 children in New York City. I found his parents names on Poorhouse Inmate records in N.Y.C.in 1902 and 1905. One of them listed his parents names.....Finally!!! They were Henry Lancaster and Mary Burges from Ireland. I have hit the wall now. Cannot find any of them in Ireland, nor when and where from James or Susanna may have left Canada.

Any one have any clues? Please? :)

I have been trying for years to find out the same thing. I notice a lot of folks put the Rutherford County, NC Dycus people as her kin on their trees, but since the story is she came from England as an indentured servant, I don't see a connection to these folks. No one seems to have hard evidence for this connection. If anyone has a source, I'd appreciate seeing it.

I'm stuck and haven't been able to find anything on Dudlia and Nanie Dycus except for the 1880 Census. they were living in Rutherford, Tn. Their daughter, Martha Ann married James Wesley Smith. James moved his family to Wynne, Cross, Arkansas. A lot of their descendants still live in that area. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you
Patricia

I have xerox copies of The Highlander newspaper, Shelby, NC, July 5, 1913. The skeleton of the Dycus man (Ancil) who drowned while coming home from the war was uncovered and reburied nearby. Interesting article if this is your family. Would be glad to make you a copy if you send me a stamped envelope. Have you read Dear Companion by Jean Tisdale?

F. E. Dycus - OBIT

Taken from Wichita Daily Times - Tx
April 1, 1908

JUDGE DYCUS IS DEAD
Passed Away at His Home in Fort Worth This Morning.
Fort Worth, Tex., April 1 -- Judge F. E. DYCUS, aged 48 years, a native Texan and a prominent Fort Worth attorney, died this morning. He removed here from Archer City ten years ago. He is survived by a widow and five children.
In addition to the above special telegrams announcing Judge DYCUS death were received by Judge CARRIGAN and other parties in this city.
For years deceased made his home at Archer City and was favorably known to most of the people in this judicial district. He took up his residence at Fort Worth several years ago, but continued to visit and practice his profession in his part of Texas.
The news of his death was not altogether unexpected, as it has been known for three days that he was lying at death's door, suffering from blood-poisoning; which started from a slight scratch on one of his hands.
At his death Judge DYCUS was in his forty-eighth year, and had risen rapidly in his profession.
Knew Him From Boyhood
A telegram from Fort Worth tells the sad news of the death of this noble, ???? man. I have known him from boyhood, when he was struggling for an education. I received him into the church and baptized him when he was about 18 years old. I also baptized his wife when she was a mere girl and said the words that made them one in their young manhood and womanhood. I have been a frequent guest in their home during those years. He was a faithful friend, a kind and affectionate husband and father, a noble Christian gentleman, and he had risen to an honorable position in his profession - the law. He leaves a host of friends, besides his devoted wife and children to mourn his untimely departure. But they sorrow not as those who have no home. My deepest sympathy goes out to the bereaved ones.
In the 1870 Cleveland County, North Carolina Census, Township #7 , Camp Call P.O. page 78B listed are Elijah Dyons and Abner Dyons.
The names listed are:
Dyons, Elijah	Age 64	Male	Born NC
Dyons, Lavina Age 67	Female	Born NC
Dyons, Ricy	Age 35	Female	Born NC
Philbeck, Mary	Age 26	Female	Born NC
Philpeck, Eliza	Age 5	Female	Born NC

Dyons, Abner	Age 42	Male	Born NC
Dyons, Cela	Age 38	Female	Born NC
Dyons, Robert	Age 12	Male	Born NC
Dyons, Mary	Age 10	Female	Born NC
Dyons, Ricy	Age 4	Female	Born NC
Dyons, Biddy	Age 2 ?	Female	Born NC
Dyons, William	Age 1	Male	Born NC
By the names list above I would assume this is Elijah Dycus and his son Abner Green Dycus.
I notice allot researchers show Elijah’s death after 1860. Maybe this will help someone.
Thanks,
Richard Dycus
