Samantha. My name is Brenda Cooper Jason, age 55, daughter of Henry Cooper, grandson of Elizabeth Eady Cooper and Henry Cooper, My father left Axson at the age of 16 in 1934 and never returned. He enlisted in the US Army. My first cousin, Amy Cooper Rouke originally from Hazlehurst, Ga. spearheaded a family reunion of the Cooper-Eadys in Douglas in the year 2001. My family did stay in touch during the years with Aunt Roxie Cooper Carter of Waycross, a daughter of Elizabeth Eady and Henry Coper. Elizabeth had a brother named Gabriel, called uncle Gabe, father to William Eady whom was married to a Lottie Finkley Eady. Mattie Ruth Eady whom attended that reunion was the daughter of William and Lottie Finkley Eady. I was told that Mattie died in 2008, Her daughter Alice and son Jimmy are still there in Douglas. In Sept 08 I also talked with Annie Lee Reed, he sister of Mattie Ruth whom now resides in Miami and still has a home in Douglas. She told me that after her husband died she chose to maintain in Miami and come home occasionally to Douglas. Some of her children are still there in Douglas as well.I alsos spoke with Julia Davis there in Ambrosia. She is the daughter to Mary Eady, the olest daughter of Gabe. Rebecca Pace whom still resides in Douglas, is the daughter of the late Flora Finkley, whom was the daughter of Frank and Rebecca Finley. From the 1920 census the Finkleys and Eadys were next door neighbors and 2 brothers and sisters from that marriage married into the other family. You must be a great or great great grand daughter to some of these peolpe mentioned.

Re: Oscar Eaddy

Oscar, my father Henry Cooper was the grandson of Henry and Elizabeth Eaddy as well, they were from Kingstree SC (Williamsburg County) and migrated to Atkinson County, Axson, Ga. Elizabeth and Henry's children were Willie Cooper, b. 1892 d. 1974 in Waycross, Ga. Louisa ?, Roxie Cooper Carter, b. 1897 died 1997 in Augusta, Ga. but lived most of her life in Waycross Ga with her son Ulyseese Carter and family; Etta Mae Cooper Rounds. b. 1907 d. 1998 in Augusta, ga. but lived most of her life in Wayvross Ga. and Robert Cooper, whom was my dads father died in 1953. My cousin Amy Rourke did some intensive research on the Eaddy family in 2001. THere were some Eaddy's that showed up to a family renion she spearheaded in Douglas Ga. in 2001. US cencus records for 1890 were destroyed in a fire which prevented me from getting documentation on their time in Kingstree. I do have a copy of that Reunion booklet from July 2001 and a couple of Eddys that reside in Douglas Ga. are still there. Email me at brendaj350@aol.com for more information.

Are you related to Donny Eaddy who owns the local gas station across from the DQ? He's the brother of my ex-mother-in-law, Margie McDaniel. She's married to William McDaniel and they live in his parent's old homestead outside of Johnsonville on the hwy to Lake City. My son, their grandson, is now 18 and wanted to check it out. They used to have a big Eaddy reunion, I think around July 4, may still have them; I lived down there too 20 years ago. My ex-husband is Gary McDaniel, brother of Wayne and Linda Kay.

I am still in the process of researching the Thompson family. This is what I have so far.

Odine's father's name was Oscar Eaddy. Oscar's father was Bob Eaddy and his mother was Fannie Eaddy.

Odine's mother was Ivey Altman. Ivey Altman's parents were Jack and Leila Altman.

When I finish the research, I will share it with my immediate family.

Don't know if this will help or not, but the most Eaddys in the world can be found on this site. Here are numbers. You will have to move around in that site to find what you are looking for, and if you have trouble, ask Mr. Vanik Eaddy, for his help. He is re writing the history of James Eaddy family of S. C. his web numbers are.....
eaddy@ra.msstate.edu

http://www2.msstate.edu/~eaddy

/the second one may be the best. Since you ask for JAMES....THE name James continues thru this family a lot. SO good luck.I am descended from Nettie Adell Eaddy Hanna, from georgetown, S. C. Williamsburg Co. Johnsonville. WHICH IS VERY CLOSE TO MYTLE BEACH> So this family isprobably yours, you will have to trace down if you can.

Hi Lorna, couldn't help but notice your repeated posts looking for your daughter's father...I'm no relation but came across this while looking for a similar surname....just feeling led to try a wild shot to help! Go to Yahoo search engine and type in People Search. This will put up a page you can put in the name you're looking for. I put in James Eaddy and got 18 results of persons by that name (or Jimmy) living in the entire United States, with 8 of them living in S. C., 2 in VA, and the others various places. Yahoo People Search gives the current addresses and phone #'s also...you might try writing to all of them with your story, or calling...Good luck and God Bless!
