Hi,
I realise that this thread was originated in 2002 but hopefully someone will respond.

My Gt.Gt.Gt.Grandfather Josiah Eades was married to Sarah (unknown) and they had 7 children in Windlesham, Surrey, UK which is only 9 miles from Heckfield, Hampshire. These children were Charles, Frances, Henry (1807), Mary Anne (1812), Thomas (1819), Caroline (1821), Jane R. (1829)

Josiah's grandson was named Harry MARTIN Eades which could well be confirmation of Josiah's wife being Sarah MARTIN?

They had 2 children: Frederick and Edith. It appears they lived in Maine, possibly Bailyville in 1920.

Michele

Hello Valerie, You just might be able to make a reasonably old lady very happy. I have a Family Bible printed in 1649 and written in 1669 by Lawrence STanyan He faithfully wrote b,death and marriages in until he died in 1725. He came to Dublin as Commissioner for Revenue in late 1600s. After he died the Family Bible lay unwritten in until my Ancestor William George Eades married Mary (Nee Cranwill) in early 1800's. I believe William George Eades father was Christopher Eades and Esther Boland was his mother. But I am not sure of this. For 10 years I have not been able to find the link between 1725 and early 1800's. So if you have access to the Eades family from the early 1700's you might just make life much easier for me.
I am in Diamond Creek, in Melbourne Australia.
Kind regards Marg Greenwood mhgreenwood@bigpond.com

I was fascinated by some of the information mentioned in your post. Please get in touch with me to discuss this.

Regards,

D. Eades

Hi, sorry for the delay - I think I broke a rule, which isn't too surprising because I didn't read them. Okay - household of my grandfather Ernest William Eades: Wife, Ada Andrews,
Winifred b.1894 d.
Ernest James b. 1896 - d.1916 Battle of the Somme
Margaret (known as Tat) b.1900 - d. 1979
George, b.1903 - ?
Ada (known as Auntie Doll) b.1903 - d.1985
Alexander Crerar (known as Uncle Alec)b.1905 - d.1981
Colin - b.1908 - d. 1917 - illness
Ivy Emily (my mother) b.1910 - d.1969
Mildred (known as Auntie Millie) b.1912 - ?
Jack Gerald, b.1915, d.2003
Vivian - b.1915? - 1918
Uncle Alec had two girls, Mary and Shirley. Millie had one girl, Pamela. Jack, as you know, had two girls. The rhesus negative factor was already having an effect on the family. Millie was told that she could not have another baby. Margaret had no children, Winifred had one boy, Colin, d. My mother had 3, Julia, Nicholas and Anna (me) all living. I have 3 children, Nick none, Julia 5, with umpteen grandchildren. Both Eades and Crerar are Huguenot names and it seems likely that they came to England after the Edict of Nantes was revoked. Grandfather Eades married Catherine Crerar and became a Boot and Shoemaker to the Quality (I remember the sign when I was tiny. They started on a downturn after WWI and by the time WW2 was over they had reduced to a boot and shoe repair shop. The shop has long since gone - replaced by parking lots - but the house is still at 34 Old Road East. The family tomb in Gravesend Cemetary contains (the name of) Ernest James, Colin, Vivian, Ada (who died when I was born in 1942), Grandfather, and my mother. I remember that my mother was very fond of Jack. We lived in London and usually visited when we came down to stay with Tat. I even remember baby-sitting for the girls on one occasion.

I am not sure what siblings he had but I recall his family all left South Shields and he came to Canada in 1912 I think . I have more complete information coming in the next few weeks as a relative has a detailed ancestral tree.

message was a long time ago, so I don't know if you're still there. My mother, Ivy, was a sister of Jack's. Their mother's name was Ada (nee Andrews), father's name Ernest William. Ada was born in 1873 and Ernest in 1872. You can get a bit more from the 1911 census, but at that date Millie and Jack were not born. I am trying to put together what I can of the Eades family and also the Wilsons my mother married into. I left England a long time ago after my mother died and my brother, sister and I drifted away from the rest of the family. Anna

Hello Valerie, I am clutching at straws but hope you may kmow of a Mary Elizabeth Eades who would probably be in her eighties now. She was a Domestic Servant, believed to be a cook and in 1945 she was in Tonbridge/Tunbridge Wells, Kent. The only other thing I know is that she was Church of England. A family member is trying to find her. Please help if you can.
I am trying to confirm family connections of my G.G.Grandmother, Ann Maria Eades b.1829. I know her father was John b.1786 in Chewton Mendip, there are also possible siblings of hers, James, John, Charles and Martha, all also born in Chewton Mendip. Ann Maria worked in the Somerset Lunatic Asylum as a Laundress, also listed is Martha Eades b.1791 who I'm guessing is her Mother. Any thoughts anyone? Ann married John Jenkins in 1857.

I am also reseaching my Eades family, and his name has come up several times. I have also gotten an Abraham Eades b abt 1675, he is supposed to be one of the first immigrants to come over to this country. But, I am not sure if he belongs to my family. For the last name that I have, that I know belongs to me is, my great grandfather. I'm not sure of anything else on him, except that he had 3 children, including my grandfather. I know this seems like useless information to you, but I am really on a dead end trail, and any information or advice would be quite helpful. Thank you.

Do you have names/dates/locations for some of your Eades ancestors? That would help...My earliest known is John Eades who married Mary Massey in 1822 in NC-these were my gggrandparents. My ggrandfather was John Eades who was b. 1828 in NC, married 1st to Louisa Jane Lackey in NC, then 2nd to my ggrandmother Mary Collins in 1888 in Wayne Co., MO. He served in the Civil War in NC. My grandparents were John Harrison Eads, b. 1889 in Wayne Co., MO and who married Effie Ellen Borders, b. 1894 same location. The marriage took place in Wayne Co., MO in 1912. The spelling of the name seemed to change from Eades to Eads sometime in the late 1860's--I suspect during the migration from NC to MO--for by the time I found them in MO in the 1870 census it was Eads.

Not sure if this relates to me, but hope someone else can connect this man with a family: John Eades immigrated to America in 1773, permanent #2355228, source publication code-1222, pg. 85, English Convicts in Colonial America, Vol 1: Middlesex 1617-1775, by Peter Wilson Coldham. I'm researching my Eades/Eads and the farthest back I've gone so far is my gggrandfather John Eades who married Mary "Polly" Massey in 1822 in N.C. His father was supposed to be another John Eades, which is how I found this immigration record, but so far I've found no documentation to link this man or anyone else before abt. 1800 to my Eades/Eads line. I will share what I have and hope someone can help...

Searching for Ben Eades

I am searching for my 1st cousin twice removed, Ben Eades, who is/was a son of Hardie & Georgia Eades. Georgia was my great-aunt, brother to my great-grandfather, Jesse Ryse/Rice Williams. The family originated out of the Slaughters, KY area in Webster/Hopkins counties in Kentucky. Some of the family members came across the river to Evansville, IN; the rest, according to what I cannot find, appear to have dropped from the radar. Ben also has sisters: Helen Sommers, Mabel West, Ruby Cain, and Betty Gipson/Gibson. Anyone who may know this family or is a part of it is welcome and encouraged to email me at nmemorydad43003@yahoo.com. I have a thousand and one questions I'd like help getting answers to. Thanks so much!

P.S. According to Georgia's death notice from the funeral home in 1961, Ben was last known to be the St. Louis, MO area.

My GGGrandmother's name is said to be Letta Eads. She was Born abt 1829 - 1830 in North Carolina. She was believed to be 1/2 Blackfoot Indian. I am looking for links to her lineage. There was an un-named female child born to a William Eads in Stokes Co., NC abt 1829-1830. I am trying to find my connection to my Native American lineage.
