I submitted corrections to ancestry.com on their census information regarding:
1840: Bibb AL, Davis Austin Eeds was listed as Christ A. Edd - Ancestry has accepted correction (of interest to some of you: On that same page is John R. Cox (mislisted as John K. Cox)- I believe that Eliza Eeds (married to John R. COx) has her mother living with her - check out the household - the woman by the way is listed as insane - later one of Eliza's brothers is listed as insane (bad omen for me - my grandfather told me insanity ran in the family). Besides D.A. Eeds and John Cox were also John Pearce/Pierce father of Vianna/Viana/Vienna who was wife of Daniel Eeds. Also, I believe that right in that cluster of homes was the family of Oranda Townson/Townsend - wife of Davis Austin Eeds.
1870: Northport, Tuscaloosa, AL, Davis Austin Eeds was listed as Davy A. Ease - Ancestry has accepted correction
1860: James Eads (of course many Eeds' spellings) was listed on the Romulus, Tuscaloosa, Alabama census was James Ecels. James was husband of (1st) Marinda Ray & (2nd) Elizabeth Wells Pate. Children include Mary A, William F, Lucinda Marie, John C., Sarah, Louisa, Priscilla/Percilla/Pricilla, Rebecca, possibly an Isabella, James M., Samuel, Alice and Josephine. Also living in the house are Robert Cameron and James Cameron. The Camerons and the Rays and the Eads have well established connections. I just submitted the correction today.
Posting this because some of you may have looked for these folks in the past and not found them because of the misspellings. I compared US & Alabama census before and after each of these years to establish neighbors and compare children and feel very confident regarding these corrections.
