I trace my ancestry to Ballymalis through Thomas Eagar who was born in Tralee, Kerry in 1791. Thomas emigrated to America and died in New York.

His father was Francis Eagar who was born about 1751 in Cruel, Kerry. Francis was the son of Francis, born 1710 in Ballyncourty, Kerry. Not until John (Francis's father) do we get to Ballymalis. John was born in 1667 at Ballymalis. He was the son of Alexander Eagar, also born at Ballymalis in 1635.

I believe Ballymalis was given to Major Robert Eagar for his service to the English King.
