I don't know when or where he was born in Ireland. His first child (my great grandmother) was born 1850 in NYC, NY. Just beginning to try to find the next generation. The only other clue I have is that he might have brothers: Patrick &/or William.

We believe they came from Ireland sometme before 1835 in 1835 my gggreat grandfather John Eagen was born in detroit he was baptised at the Most Holy Trinity Church in Detroit. We also know of 2 other children born to them Thomas and Michael.John Thomas Jr. and Michael ended up in Columbia Co. Wisconsin they started showing up in the census around 1860. We have never been able to find Thomas or his wife in any census records we have no birth or death dates for them. The only reason we know there names is it states it on there childrens death records.Oh there may have been a Margaret Eagen also who married a Walsh or Welsh she is mentioned in an obit as a sister from Detroit in 1915. Jess E. Eagan born abt 1863 in New York marries a Clara L. (no last name) born in about 1868 in Iowa. Their daughter was Millie L. Eagan born 25 Feb 1889 in Colorado.

Samuel Eagens (b.1850) m.Roseann (Rose) Smith (b.1856), 1880 census shows them in Bridgeport, Pa. Roseann Smith was born on boat from Ireland to Philly. She had a brother Adam who served in Civil War, heard they were indentured servants as young children.
Samuel & Roseann children: Henry (b.1892 in Norristown, Pa.), Ada, Mame and Albert who moved away young and was never heard from again. Looking for someone with a connection to any of these names. Also please check my surnames!

Hello everyone,

I just got back from Ireland and visited Castlerea where my husband's family came from bef 1880. A very nice woman at the Catholic church (St. Patrick's) in town copied about 17 pages of births for the Egan (et al), complete with DOB, fathers name, mothers maiden name, and in many cases. siblings. If anyone has something they want me to check I would be glad to do so.

Bridget was born in the 1850s. Father Patrick. Her sister and brother accompanied her to America. She eventually joined the rest of her family in Australia.

Sorry, but I do not know anything about my James Henry Eagan's family. He was born Blacktail SD, but he did not know his parents names according to his SS Application. Unfortunatly there are so many James & Henry Eagens with Irish heritage that it is very difficult to trace them.

Mary Ann Eagen was born in Ireland between 1832-1835 to John Eagen and Anna Carney. She came to the U.S. abt. 1849 and married John C. Allis in 1850. Her first child George William was born in holyoke, Mass. April 30, 1851. She and her family moved to Springfield, Mass. abt. 1855. Mary and John had five more children, John Jr. 1855, Charles Albert 1857, Annie J. 1860, Elizabeth M. 1864, and Benjamin 1867. Mary died in Springfield, Mass. February 17, 1918.

My grandfather James Eagen was born in Pennsylvania, don't know where. Found James and his mother Ann in 1900, in the San Francisco, California census. She was 70 at the time and had 3 living children out of 13. She imigrated from Ireland around 1856. Don't have a clue what her husband's name (would be my g.grandfather) is. It would appear that she probably died before the 1906 earthquake and it seems likely that he may have perished in the earthquake. I find his wife Sarah (Humphreys McKinnell) and daughter Pearl (my mother) in the 1910 census in Black Diamond/Pittsburg, California
