Classification: Query
Surnames: Eagleton, Pettigrew, Petticrew
I had a cousin of mine, a g-g grandson of Alexander Malcolm Eagleton (1827-1901), take the y-chromosome DNA test. Alexander was a son of James Eagleton (1794-1877), who was son of David Eagleton (1748-1828).
The results are in and he is a perfect match to several members of the Pettigrew/ Petticrew family that moved from Scotland to Northern Ireland.
I would like for another patrilineal descendant of David Eagleton (1748-1828) to take the test to determine if he also shows a high resolution match to the Pettigrew/ Petticrew family. This could prove to be of vital importance in tracing the lineage of David Eagleton back into Northern Ireland or Scotland. I will gladly pay for the test at Family Tree DNA (www.ftdna.com)
Does anyone know of any male, patrilineal (ie, Eagleton surname) descendants of David Eagleton, outside of the line of James Eagleton/ Margaret Montgomery, that could be tested? I look in anywho.com and see Eagletons all over the place, but with no indication of patriline.
Ever wonder why no primary documents of our David Eagleton/ Eaglesham can be found in Scotland or Northern Ireland?? The reason could be that we are looking for the wrong surname.
