Helo, I am a great great granddaughter of Eliza jane Shields. I think that my great grandpa was one of the illigitamate children you spoke of on this site. The story in our family is that Eliza gave all of her children her last name because she was never married to the father. I found Grandville Eakles name on a death certificate for my great grandfather. I would love to share info about these lines with you. my contact info is below. Tonya

Tonya Shumway
tonya_oklahoma@yahoo.com
405-579-3645
1400 Grand Canyon Dr
Norman, Ok 73026

Granville Eakle (Eakles)

I am searching for information on GRANVILLE EAKLES (possibly EAKLE as spelled on some Census reports). Worldconnect shows his birthdate as 9 Nov. 1849 in Macon County, Tennessee, and his parents as JOHN EAKLE (b. 1806 - TN) and RACHEL CRAWFORD (b. abt 1891). Granville quite possibly had illegitimate children with ELIZA JANE SHIELDS of Kentucky/Tennessee, who he later married in 1894. Thank you.

Eakles/Gulley

My paternal great-grandmother was Leona Eakles (or Eacles). Information is sketchy but was told she was from north central Tennessee. She married David Petway Gulley and they had several children. The majority of the children moved to southern Illinois in the early 1900s. I know my grandfather (Thurman Gulley) was born in Red Boiling Springs, Tennessee on 3/4/1897. I was told my great-great grandfather (Jacob Eakles) was in the Union army during the Civil War thus forcing a move to Illinois. Any information that can be shared would be appreciated tremendously. I can be reached at robpau@cswnet.com. Thank you.

Wrights from Missouri

My paternal great-grandfather was David H. Wright. I have a birth date of 4/21/1884. Place of birth was Vernon county, Missouri. Was told he had several wives, thus compiling the family history gets fuzzy. Was told he and one of his wives (Harriet Curry) produced my grandfather, Thomas Henry Wright. If anyone can help with any information, it would be appreciated. I can be reached at robpau@cswnet.com. Thank you.
