Janice,
I am a descendant of Johann Michael Ehrhardt (born circa 1720) and Catherina Elizabeth Loesch of Culpepper-Augusta-Orange County VA. They moved from Pennsylvania to Virginia and his name is spelled as Michael Ahart in Virginia. I am descended from their son Abraham married to Elizabeth of Orange County VA. Adam Michael Ahart married to Lucas was the father of Sarah 30 Jan 1792. Abraham was Adam Michael Ahart's brother. We are working on a DNA study of DNA provided by a descendant of Johann Michael Ehrhardt. Please email me so I can fill you in on the study.
Marla Eaheart Millsap dh55245@cox.net

Could Alexander possibly be the father of Lucinda O. EARHART GODDARD/GODARD? Lucinda and her husband, George Columbus GODDARD, were enumerated (as GODARD) in Deer Creek Township, Bates Co., Missouri on the 1880 census and had a son named James Alexander GODDARD.

Lucinda's obituary from 1918 mentioned she was survived by two brothers but does not name them.

Any help in locating Lucinda's parents and siblings will be greatly appreciated.

On the 1880 Census, they were enumerated in Bates Co., Missouri. The two previous households were Alexander and George (and Matilda) EARHART, probably brothers to John.

On the 1860 census, John and Elizabeth were in Bates Co., Missouri with four children: Lucinda (age 11), Amanda (age 9), Alexander (age 5) and David (age 1). The following household is Alexander and Martha Ehart.

By the 1870 Census, Elizabeth was a widow and enumerated with sons Alexander, David and John T.

Does anyone have any information on Lucinda's siblings:
Amanda, b. abt 1851 in Virginia
Alexander, b. abt 1855 in Missouri
David, b. abt 1859 in Missouri
John T., b. abt 1862 in Missouri

Re: Wm. R. EARHART married to Sophia SCOTT - 1850s - Ohio/Colorado

Since my original posting, I have discovered that the marriage of William R. Earhart and Sophia Scott took place on 9 Dec 1856 in Lawrence County, Ohio. I am still interested in learning if William's mother was Dorcas (maiden name unknown) Earhart; she is head of the household in the 1850 US census in Alexander, Athens County, Ohio; also in the household is "W.R." (possibly my William R.). Was William born in Athens County? What was Dorcas's maiden name? Who was William's father?

My mother is a Webb and I was told that Earhart had seom relations thru the Webb that was told by my grandmother whom I never met. I would like to have a complete run down of what you have on the Earhart. Amelia Earhart did play the role thru my lineage. Is there any Webb, Jackson or Councils Family involve with the Earhart of what you know? Any information would be deeply appreciated.

The christening ceremony for the newest ship in the Lewis and Clark (T-AKE) class of underway replenishment ships will be held at the General Dynamics NASSCO shipyard in San Diego.

Designated as T-AKE 6, the new ship honors aviation pioneer Amelia Mary Earhart for her courage, vision and groundbreaking achievements, both in aviation and for women.

Earhart's name became a household word in 1932 when she became the first woman -- and second person -- to fly solo across the Atlantic, flying from Harbor Grace, Newfoundland, to Londonderry, Ireland. That year, she received the Distinguished Flying Cross from the U.S. Congress, the Cross of Knight of the Legion of Honor from the French government, and the Gold Medal of the National Geographic Society from President Herbert Hoover. In January 1935, Earhart became the first person to fly solo across the Pacific Ocean from Honolulu to Oakland, Calif. Later that year she soloed from Los Angeles to Mexico City and back to Newark, N.J. In July 1936, Earhart took delivery of a Lockheed 10E "Electra," financed by Purdue University, and started planning her around-the-world flight.

Rep. Susan A. Davis, will deliver the ceremony's principal address. Earhart's niece, Amy Kleppner, will serve as ship's sponsor. The launching ceremony will include the time-honored Navy tradition when the sponsor breaks a bottle of champagne across the bow to formally christen the ship "Amelia Earhart."

The USNS Amelia Earhart is the sixth ship in the Navy's 11-ship T-AKE class. The ship will directly contribute to the ability of the Navy to maintain a worldwide forward presence by delivering ammunition, food, fuel, and other dry cargo to U.S. and allied ships at sea. The ship is designed to operate independently for extended periods at sea and can carry and support two helicopters to conduct vertical replenishment.

As part of Military Sealift Command's (MSC) Naval Fleet Auxiliary Force, the USNS Amelia Earhart is designated as a United States Naval Ship (USNS) and will be crewed by 124 civil service mariners working for Military Sealift Command's. The ship will also have a military detachment of 11 U.S. Navy sailors to provide supply coordination.

One previous ship has been named for Earhart. The SS Amelia Earhart was a Liberty ship built in the U.S. during World War II.

Additional information about this class of ship is available on line at http://www.navy.mil/navydata/fact_display.asp?cid=4400&t....

http://www.defenselink.mil/releases/release.aspx?releaseid=1...

Family Tree of Amelia Earhart

http://genealogy.about.com/od/women/p/earhart_b.htm

Biography:
http://www.ameliaearhart.com/about/biography.html
