I think this John Earles, and the other earles children ,is a brother to my ggggrandmother the Nancy Earles listed with John. From what I can find out, the Earles children's mother was Rhoda Williams daughter of Elizabeth and John Williams. Rhoda married Garland Earles. Garland murdered Rhoda in 1849 by hitting her in the head with a piece of wood. He was hanged in 1855. I cannot find Elizabeth Williams maiden name nor the parents of Garland. I am still looking. Nancy moved with one of the Williams and married Samuel Carr, Jr., son of Samuel Carr, Sr. and Esther Johnson in Whitley Co., KY Samuel and Nancy had my gggrandmother Sarah Carr who married John Scott in Texas Co. MO. They had my grandmother, Mary Scott who married William Thomas Rhoades who had my mother Helen AILEEN Rhoades.

Remains Recovered

CPL I. B. Earles was killed on Makin Island 1943. His remains have been recovered from the island and returned to the United States with full honors. See the video of the recovery and coming home ceremony hosted by the United States Marine Corps.

Hello, the name Earles did immigrate from many of those places... My grandmother's side of the family name is Earles and my grandmother told me the story of the origination... In my family it was two brothers that immigrated to the US during the potato famine.. Their original name was not Earles... the original name was lost and their new names became Earles because they were earls in ireland. they were scot-irish. hope this helps

Need info on the children of William H. Earles Jr, father William H. Earles, his father Gameliel Earles. Searching for child Martin Earles. Also William H. Earles had another son Pleasant Earles who had a son Martin also. Need info concerning Martin Earles who married Kizzie/Kizzea/Kissea Robertson/Robinson in North Carolina. I think all of their children except one was born in North Carolina. The last child Phinis H. Earles born in Van Buren, Co, Tn. I am a descendant of James Armstrong that married Isabelle earles. I have little information about either but this is what I have. Isabelle Earles born in 1829 in Enniskillen, Fermanagh co., Ireland. Married James Armstrong Mar 13, 1851 in Parish church of Enniskillen. They moved to Eureka Center, Iowa and both died around 1881. one of their children Adam is my great grandfather. I have info on all the children if you want it. I'm looking for info in Isabellas parents and mainly James parents.

If this thread is still active, I'd love some help. I'm trying to trace the family of my g-g-grandfather Elisha Saul Earles, born Feb. 1855 in Ohio and died 1927 in Carrsville, KY. Since the name Elisha appears in the Gamaliel Earle family line, I've been looking for a connection, but haven't found it yet.
Our oral family history says that Elisha's family moved to Carrsville, Ky sometime between his birth and the Civil War. The owned a store and ferry which family legend says was a stop on the Ungerground Railroad. My grandfather told me that family members ferried escaped slaves across the river into Illinois. I'm willing to exchange into with anyone who can help me. Thank you.

The family of Phillip Havey Eirls (Earls) is also in our line. His mother or stepmother, was Sarah Elizabeth Coleman born Sept. 8, 1852,and died Sept 15,1926, Pettis Co Mo.I know James Michael Eirls was married before. I need their marriage date to figure out which kids belong to which mother.
Sarah Elizabeth Coleman's mother was Caroline Dodson married to Samuel Coleman, also of Pettis Co.
Sarah Elizabeths' dau. was married to John Milton Howe whose mother was Rebecca Younger.We are just getting to this branch of family- alot out there. Mo death certificates are great place to research.

My greatgrandfather was Steven Douglas Earles His father was James Earls(Earles) and his mother was Nearcy (America or Mary) Sinkhorn they are from Kentucky but appeared on the 1860 census in Washington County Illinois with their children. Stepehn was born in 1861. The children were Sarah (married eason Tayolr in ky in 1859) Margaret who i believe married Issac Elifritz in Illinois, Amanda E, Mary F, Wm B, Geo W., and of course Stephen Douglas Earles. My great grandfather Steve married Armitta Carolyn Faulkner one of Abner Faulkner's daughters in Illinois but I can't find the rest of the family help please

Nelson Earles was in the home of John O Berton Earles, whose race is "W", in the 1860 census, Jackson County, Alabama. Nelson Earles' race is listed as "M".
A family story relates that John's father, Allen Earle, was also the father of Nelson. John and Nelson were half brothers. We are looking for who Nelson's mother was. What happened to Nelson? Did he marry, have any siblings, descendants? We can't find Nelson after the Civil War. Maybe he traveled north. Does anyone know what happened to him?

Another way to explain the relationship is: Ethel and my mother were first cousins.

Based on the obituaries of Hudson and Ethel, there isn't any evidence they had any children. A nephew is mentioned in Hudson's obituary, but neither a nephew nor niece is mentioned in Ethel's obituary.

Ethels' youngest sister Bernice died in 1929, seemingly single and without children. See obituary below:

Death Notice - Detroit News - Monday April 1, 1929, pg 40
JOHNS - March 30, Bernice, Beloved daughter of Bert and Sarah, Sister of Mrs. Hudson Earles and Mrs. Ward Morehead. Funeral services from McCabe's Chapel, 546 Grand River, Tuesday at 2 pm. Interment at Grand Lawn.

In Bernice's obituary above, Ethel's other sister Ruth is identified as Mrs. Ward Morehead. In Ethel's obituary Ruth is identified as Ruth A. Thompson. I don't have an exact date of birth for Ruth and haven't been able to figure out when nor where she died.

Ethels' father Adelbert (aka Bert) Johns had 8 siblings, but only one, Roy, my grandfather, had any children.

My connection is through Ethel (Johns) Earles' father, Adelbert (Bert) Johns:

Father: Edward Johns (born Sept 17, 1833 near Cardiff, Wales; died Mar 24, 1911, Churchville, Monroe Co, NY).
Mother: Mary Knickerbocker (born Nov 4, 1843 Chili, Monroe Co, NY; died Mar 13, 1927, Stockton, JoDavies Co, IL).
They are buried side by side at Riga Cemetery, Monroe Co, NY. They do not have gravestones, but their burials are recorded in the cemetery records. I visited June 2003.

Stewart Johns
Adelbert (Bert) Johns (father of Ethel)
Frederick Johns
Edward Robert Johns
Hartwell Johns
Gilbert Johns
Grace Johns
Ray Johns
Roy Johns (my grandfather)

I was never successful in tracking down any of Ethel and Husdson Earles' descendants.

I have portrait photos of Edward & Mary Johns and several of their children and would be willing to share if any descendants you locate are interested.

I don't have a photo of Adelbert (Bert) Johns. If you have a photo of him and his wife Sarah I'd be interested in a copy or scan. Please let me know, if you'd be willing to share.

I already have that information. What I'm looking for is decendents of Ethel Earles. Going through old family photo albums, I came across many photos of Ethel and family when she was young and wanted to get them to her family. I posted a message on the board about it and hope I get a hit. Do you know living relatives of Ethel or Hudson? and, how are you related?

I am looking for information on Sarah Ellen Earles (Earls) (Earle). There is confusion on the spelling of the last name. She was born to Nathan and Eliza on Feb 10, 1854 in Coffee County, Tennessee. She had a brother named Lawson Vance. My main interest is in the heritage of her mother Eliza. She was said to be Native American. I would like to verify this.

I'm doing some research for a friend whose family name is Earls. I traced her Earls from Ohio back through Kentucky to John Earles (born about 1767 in Virginia) and Margaret (Dean?) Earles (born about 1778 in VA). They lived in Pendleton County, KY. Does anyone have any information about John's parents? Are all the Earle/Earles/Earls in Virginia in the 1700s likely descended from an original immigrant? Thank you.

I have photos of my great great grandparents John and Harriett(John has small eyes very almond shaped a big mustache, he seems to be wearing a well worn but nice suit, his wife is standing behind him with her arm resting on his shoulder with her hair up, very plain clothing) and of their son charles (a navy photo,i believe he served in ww1, he is wearing a hat that says u.s. navy, blue or green eyes) I have no other information on them just wondering if this connects to any other Earles out there!

Searching for a man that was a traveling salesman, came to Louisianna about 1923, his last name is Earles or Earl. He would be my real ggrandfather. My ggrandmother before she died told us about him. When she had my grandfather she named him Jack Gilmore. Her name was Mimi.Also is there any Earles out there that have a inherited disease called malignant hyperthermia, which during a surgery the patient is allergic to anesthesia, sometimes if not caught could be fatal.
