we're quite possibly talking about the same family. John Thomas Eason b abt 1835 was married to Sara Elizabeth Johnson. They had a son, John T. born June 14,1858(according to his death certificate; some census records had a different year). My great grandmother Emma Eason was sister of John T. The death certificate lists wife, Lottie, father, Thomas and mother, Lizzie. The Lizzie could be Sara Elizabeth. Was Lottie a 2nd wife? The 1900 census had an older woman Martha as a wife.

I can give you information on the father John Thomas who was killed during the Civil War and back to his grandfather. If you decide it is the same family let me know and I will send you the info on the older generations.

Are you already aware of all of the more recent relatives and are interested in my great great grandfather? If you are really writing an Eason book then you know about my father's DOB and the day he passed? You know of his brothers and sisters? His mother? His step mother?

Interesting. I believe my 3g grandfather, Joseph S. Eason, was the grandson of Moses Eason, himself the son of George Eason, Sr, of Nansemond, VA. I have reason to believe Joseph's father was Rice Eason, b. abt 1760, to Moses and Sarah Rice Eason, but have had little luck finding evidence that would turn that belief to reality.

Based on your posting, it sounds like you might have some of the information I've been looking for.

May I ask that your drop me an email at melsonr@earthlink.net?

Thanks.
I have Eason's from Nash Co. NC that trace back to William Eason b. abt. 1719 d. 1783 in Elisabeth Parish, Nash Co. (Will Book 1, Pg. 246, Nash Co. NC). I believe his father to be William d. 1736, Bertie Co. NC, wife Anne (Will dated 1736 Bertie Co. NC), mentions son William who is not yet of age 21. Note then, I believe Eason's would be in America in VA and NC before 1723.

I haven't looked at my data in quite a while but would like to get my early Eason's in sync with everyone working on Eason's from VA to NC and see if we're on the same page with dates, etc.

I know the message board is gatewayed to the Eason list but wonder why no one is using the list directly to work on Eason's. On the list, you don't have to have a password to log in and post replies or queries. Seemed we had a lot of sharing of data and working out questions on the list in the past. I would like to make sure I'm on the right track with all my William Easons!

Eason is a spousal line for me...beginning with Margaret Eason b. 1782 NC d. Abt. 1851 KY back to William b. abt. 1694. She had 3 younger brothers who I have info on also. The family moved to TN from NC.
Thank you for the suggestions. My william I believe was born in 1791 and had a son wiliam age 23 in 1860 census and the joseph from that familyl I believe my line. Do you have a John a eason and laura anne eason in the 1920 census in your line. I think teaminia or tennima eason b 1836 is in this line. My understanding is no one has been able to figure out the eason line directly since the first eason came here via Bermuda. I found info in va on bermuda eason. Thanks again and if you have the above let me know. Anita Eason Dormer

HI, If your family in the 1900census is in oneal johnston co and you are related to joseph a., laura wife, joseph herman,my grandfather, clara b etc. and you can link it to the 1880 census where a john a in the same location is the correct age, i assume with similar names that this is the link. If this is your line please let me know. by assumption and dating I see a william eason in 1860census. Again, I hate to assume and I can confirm if I go to the cemetary where we had the old reunions for the easons but I cannot tell when this will occur. I have info in easons but I am looking for this link to go on. Based in johnston county, white family. Anita

I am researching the Eason family for my husband's cousin.

I have James Abram Eason b. 1790 Georgia d. before Oct. 15, 1850 (not shown on the1850 Census) m. 5-11-1811 Bullock, Georgia Winnie Lewis May b.
Hi,
There is a lineage of William Eason on the web. I am listed as a descendent. However, I can trace my particular family thread back to John L. Eason, born around 1791 (married to Stasha)but then there is no mention of who his father/mother are. They both seem to have been born in North Carolina. Depending on which record, she was two to ten years older than him. They migrated to Mississippi, where they both died.

If you have any info about this, I'd be grateful.

Yours,
Alethea Eason

I was born an Eason. My family descended from the Abner Eason branch of the Isaac Eason Family and we have a William Eason in our lineage. One of the things I found out during my research was told to me by my great aunt. She told me that her parents were first cousins that had married. This caused a major block for a long time. Because it was if the names kept crossing over. You may want to check the dates and make sure not talking about the same person. This helped me a great deal. Oh and by the way my family went from VA to NC. I have connected records from the present all the way back to 1731, which is the earliest record of an Eason. I would like to know the country of origin for the Eason family.

I'm not aware of Edgecombe. From what I've learned there are many Easons that are from Gates County who are not related. Two of my Hobbs great-aunts married two Eason brothers.

Lindsey, If you visited and are related to the Easons in the Eason Family Cemetery in Evans County, we are related....as I am a relative of every person in that cemetery! Please let me know. You may have an Abraham Sr. and Jr. in your immediate family, but the ones we generally refer to are:
Abraham Darlington Eason,I (Sr.) (1816-1887)
Abraham (Abe) Darlington Eason, II (Jr.) (1861-1924)
Abraham Darlington (A.D.) Eason, III (1906-1980)
Abraham Darlington Eason, IV (May be your grandfather...if so, I need to e-mail you privately for info for an Eason book...)

Please let me know if this was the cemetery you visited. Thanks so much!!!
By the way, which Eason family are you in and how are you related? Just wondering if you are with the Tattnall/Appling County families? We may be related!!

Lindsey, it is great that you are interested in geneaology at 13! I wish I had begun interviewing family members at that age!! Which Eason cemetery did you visit? There are 2 in Evans County, at least 1 in Appling County, and many others throughout the state. It seems that Abraham, Moses, George, and William were very popular names in the Eason families. Records were burned during the Civil War in many counties, so most of us are at brickwalls in finding out exactly who belonged where. William Eason, son of George Eason, Jr from South Carolina, brought Methodism to Tattnall County in the early 1800's. His brother Abraham moved with him to Tattnall County, but moved on to Appling County when the Indian lands were opened. If you visited the cemetery in Appling County, you may have seen Abraham's grave, son of George Eason, Jr. He also had a son named George. This family, however, is not the same family as the one to which others in this thread were referring. There may be a relation, but if so, it is back in the generation with George Eason, Jr. in the early 1700's...actually farther back than that if their Abraham was not from Scotland. I suspect all our Easons were originally from Scotland! Interesting how tricky names can be, especially in genealogy. Just when you think you have solved a puzzle, someone moves the pieces!! Let us hear about your trip, please.
