A lot of the Easter's aren't Easter's but are Oster's. Most of the PA, MD, OH, IN, IL IA and some WV Easter's are descended from Johan Wilhelm Oster that arrived in Philadelphia in Nov 1740 from Germany. They began americanizing the name to the English Easter in the late 1700's and early 1800's due to anti-German immigrant prejudice. Not all of the Oster's did this, but my line did. I actually have to maintain two DB's to keep the real British Easter's separate from my German sound-a-like ancestors.
