Hello,
I believe we are searching for the same John Eastham or Easton. I have John and his brother James, born 1800,in Belmont County in the 1830 census and then just John in the 1840 census.

According to the Bureau of Land Management James Eastham of Belmont County purchased land in Monroe County on 8/20/1838, and I find James in the Monroe County 1840 census.

My gr gr Grandmother Rebecca Easton born 1832 is listed with her family(John Easton) in the 1850 Monroe County census. If you look at the 1860 census you will see a James Easton, age 60, living with John and Elizabeth Easton.

1840 Belmont County census:
John Easton page 95 Pultney Twp.

2 males under 5
1 male 5-10
1 male 40-50
1 female under 5
1 female 5-10
2 females 10-15
1 female 15-20
1 female 30-40

1840 Monroe County census page 19

James Easton

2 males under 5
1 male 5-10
2 males 10-15
1 male 40-50
1 female 10-15
1 female 30-40

1850 Doddridge County, Va census:

James Eastham age 50 b. Ohio

Rebecca Easton married Marion Bumgardner in 1852 Belmont County.

1860 Monroe County census:

William Easton age 24
Elizabeth age 21

John Easton age 58
Elizabeth age 58
Jane age 16
John age 15
James age 13
James age 60

I don't know what happened to James Eastham's family.

1880 Tyler County,WV census you will find George Eastham living next door to my gr gr Grandmother Rebecca Easton Bumgardner.

Re: EASTHAM/AMBROSE Connection, Pulaski, KY?

I come down from Charles P. EASTHAM and wife, Mary BARROW through their daughter, Mary (Jain?)who mar. John AMBROSE 16 April 1853, in Pulaski Co., KY. I am looking for data on the AMBROSE family. John's father was Thomas AMBROSE, of Pulaski Co. Records suggest that Thomas' wife (John's mother) was Nancy WILSON of Adair Co., KY. A Thomas AMBROSE mar. a Nancy WILSON in Adair Co. 26 February 1819. Thomas is listed as h/h in the Pulaski Co. 1840 Cen. without a female of the age to be mother of his family. Thomas and several of his children relocated to Pike Co., Indiana by 1856 or 57. John and wife Mary, Meredith and wife Martha, William, Benjamin, Sarah, and possibly Hiram, went to Indiana. A daughter, Barthena, and her husband, Richard MORRIS, and son Charles went to Illinois, then to Camden Co., Missouri by 1860 where they and descendants remained through 1910+. There were other daughters who married into Pulaski Co. STEPHENS and SMITH families. The family was large and they appear to have just scattered. Any data on any of these persons will be greatly appreciated. I do have other EASTHAM questions and will address those in other postings. Thank you, Mary (WALLACE) Sloan

I am looking for information on a Thomas Eastham and an Annie Eastham who witnessed a relative's marriage in Salford, Lancs. in 1890. I have checked the 1881-1891-1901 censuses but can't find anything that really "fits". They might be husband and wife or they might be brother and sister.
The marrying couple were James Hibbert (son of Joseph Hibbert and Ellen Clare) b. ca 1838 Manchester and Caroline Amelia Henderson Neild, widow, b. ca 1845 Chelsea, London.
Just wondering if the Easthams might be related to James, my ancestor's brother.
Diana.

Anne,
I put in a search for LaRoque and saw your message. My maiden name is LaRoque. I don't know my entire history but the story I have been told is my ancestor, I think his name was Henri LaRoque, stowed away on a ship which landed in New Orleans when he was only 12. From there he moved to TN and started a family. Now, he may have had a son named Henry, he fought in the Civil War and then moved to Texas which is where I am from. He taught music lessons, had my great-grandfather, I will have to check on his name. There are five generations of LaRoque's in our family that were born in Texas, but I know we came from TN. Oh, also the story is that the man who came to this country divorced his wife in TN and then remarried a lady up north. Thanks for any info. you may have.

HI CONNIE-I THINK YOU AND ROSEMARY ARE TALKING ABOUT TWO DIFFERENT GEORGE EASTHAM'S. THE FIRST IS THE BROTHER OF EDWARD JR. HE MARRIED MARY BIRD. THE OTHER GEORGE (I THINK THE ONE YOU MEAN) IS THE NEXT GENERATION, THOUGHT TO BE THE SON OF EDWARD JR AND ANN TAYLOR, BUT NO PROOF. HE ALSO HAD A WIFE NAMED MARY, AND THREE SONS EDWARD (OF COURSE) WILLIAM AND JAMES. JAMES MOVED TO KENTUCKY-THAT IS THE PULASKI CO BRANCH OF THE EASTHAMS.
EDWARD EASTHAM JR, OF KING & QUEEN CO., VA, MARRIED ANN TAYLOR, DAUGHTER OF JAMES. THERE IS QUITE A BIT OF DOCUMENTATION FOR THAT MARRIAGE. JAMES TAYLOR LEFT PROPERTY TO HIS DAUGHTER ANN, WHICH SHE AND HER HUSBAND EDWARD EASTHAM LATER SOLD. BUT THERE WERE LOTS OF TAYLORS AROUND YOURS IS PROBABLY JUST A DIFFERENT ANN.

WILLIAM EASTHAMS Culpeper Co VA 1760's

I have been researching Culpeper Co records for the EASTHAM family hoping it will help sort them out. The more I search, the more confusing it gets. For example

1759 Robert & Ann Eastham, William & Francis Eastham jointly sell property. Not sure which Robert & Ann it is but I'm assuming it is the William married to Francis Bird.

Abt 1760 a WILLIAM EASTHAM marries Susannah. Due to some earlier info I had I thought this William was brother to JAMES who married Sarah ZACHARY.

However-1769 William, brother to James who married Sarah Zachary, gave the land he got from his parents, to his"son in law" George Wilhoit. This William had a wife CATHERINE.

So- Did William brother of James marry twice, or is this a different William? AND is George WILHOIT step-son or is he married to William's daughter?

Anyone have any ideas.
I am looking for information on the Easthams in Fauquier and Culpeper Counties of Virginia.

There was a George Eastham executor for Braxton B Kendall's will in 1822. A Catherine Eastham married Jesse Kendall in 1781. Both events occurred in Fauquier County. Were these Kendalls and Easthams related?

Who were Catherine's parents? Who were George's parents?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Scott Kendall

I have Easthams connected to my Hickman lines. One was Phebe Eastham who married Edwin Hickman ca 1727 in VA. The other is a Phebe Byrd Eastham who married one of Edwin and Phebe's sons or grandsons.

Do you know who Phebe's parents were? Also, do you know how the Byrd family is connected to the Hickman's? Through the Eastham's, I'm assuming.

Do you have the name Ketchum in your family history? Also, is there Indian blood in the Eastham/Byrd/Rogers families?

I'm also looking for John Cook ca 1685 who married Amy? Their daughter Deborah married William Chisholm. Their daughter Sarah married Thomas Tinsley.

Kathleen
pkr1@msn.com

Just found this thread, and wonder if you can help me. I have a George Eastham in my tree, who lived at Manor House, Manor Ave, Ribchester, his wife was Jane, and daughter Jane Margaret (or Margaret Jane) who married Michael King the groom/ostler. George and his wife apparently died at sea (from what I can gather pre WW1) but I have found no evidence on any of the shipping records. I visited Ribchester 10 years ago, and found only a couple of Eastham headstones in the Ribchester cemetry, none of them rang bells. Thanks

Hi Andy

Susannah is a bit of a mystery to me also.
I found her accidentally when I was searching for Sarah Ann
Eastham.

Sarah was on the 1881 census under Sarah Ann Crane along with husband William and other relatives.

She is down as Susannah ESTHAM. Is this a just a spelling mistake by the transcriber? as she did state that she was sister in law to the head of the household.

I have no trace of her on the 1871 cencus with her father Charles, although he had remarried, and it looks like he had taken a couple of the older children with him.

There is a margaret ellen missing as well, so it may be that the younger children were kept with the elder siblings, who havd since married. I can find no trace of them as yet.

Please let me know what connection you have with this branch of the Easthams, and who was down as father on her marriage certificate? Her father if it was Charles, died before 1881

Look forward to hearing from you.

Anne
Susssex

Hello again

You never said who Susannah put as her father on the 1884 marriage certificate!

If she is the daughter of Charles Eastham we are on the same track.

My Eastham clan start back in Blackburn with Henry born 1778. his son Charles was also born in Blackburn but moved to Manchester pre marriage in 1849.

They did start out as Roman Catholics, probably from the female side of the family, who were Irish Catholics.

Charles would have been my gt gt Grandfather

I do hope we are on the same family line, this would be the first link if we are.

As I now live in Sussex maybe you could help with 1871 census which could be of a big help with the missing Easthams

Anne
Sussex

Anne
Well Andy

Welcome to the family!!!!
It is great to know that i have at last contacted someone related to my Eastham clan.

Now we have to keep in touch to be able to share our work.
I have a great deal of Eastham relations in my tree, the best being the first Henry. He lived to the age of 81 and he served with the Duke of Wellington in the Peninsular wars leading up to the Battle of Waterloo. He died of old age!

Henry actually went home before the Waterloo skirmish, as he had served for quite a few years over in France, Spain and Portugal. All details of this have been done by a military researcher for me, and I have detials of his army camaigns and his transfer papers before he returned to Blackburn.

I would love to have copies of anything you have on the family
if it would not be too much trouble, i know that people have little time to themselves these days.

I am at present in the middle of moving house, so i have had to put my hobby of upholstery on hold until after july.

By the way i have just received the 1891 census for lancashire, so i can now have a look for Susannah and Robert Morgan Brammer, although it is not surname indext, so i have to go through the whole of Manchester.

But hey, who cares when it's a new link, it makes it all worth while.

You have made this a very happy Bank Holiday.

My address is as follows

Anne Eckhardt
Beeches
London Road
Uckfield
East SusseTN22 1HX

Steven@seckhardt.freeserve.co.uk

P.S Where is your abode?
are you still in Manchester?

Bye for now
Hi Maureen

The George here was born c 1870. I don't have any more info on him - my husband's aunt was born in 1916 but didn't mention him. I'll ask her about this to see if she does remember, but the only one she has mentioned is Elizabeth Ellen. If the dob matches up then it could be a relation.

Am also researching Easthams from Ribchester, but not what you are looking for. I need help finding details of the parents of Jane Margaret/Margaret Jane Eastham who was born in Ribchester to George Eastham and his wife Jane (ms unknown). They (George & Jane) lived in Manor House, Ribchester, and are thought to have died at sea in the early 1900s (possibly en route to US). I have been looking for over 30 years and come up with zilch. Even passed through Ribchest in 1996, and stayed in "Manor House" which is now a B&B. If you come accross anything on your researching, could you please keep me in mind? Thanks (Aust.)

Interested in locating any information regarding the Eastham family in Oklahoma. My husband is descended from Ollie Beulah Eastham, born 1896, probably in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Married John R. Shipley. Died 1868, Ukiah, California. Have no information regarding Ollie's family whatsoever. Any information will be appreciated.
