The Eastis family that is a part of my blood derives its surname from Estes, with one or two along the way that were known as Eastridge (Thomas was, at least, so i'm told). At times they can be found as Eastes.
Ancestry granted the opening of this board as a way for researchers to track the variation and contact one another. The intent is not meant to replace the Estes surname board or slander it but be a sibling. My parental surnames, Allbritten and Reed, have seen many variants of their own. Indeed, in the times of my own grandfathers, they each began life under one spelling only to end it under another (Albritton to Allbritten; Read to Reid then Reed), with various mutilations along the way. Some siblings split the spellings even within the immediate family, and my Read/Reed/Reid family actually SPLIT over the spelling of the name and lost contact with one another in the late 1800's and early 1900's.
I hope this forum can be a help. Good hunting, John.
