Haden E. Eastland Jr.
1946 - 2003
Haden E. Eastland Jr., 57, retired from General Dynamics-Lockheed, died Saturday, Sept. 20, 2003.
Funeral: 10 a.m. Tuesday at Winscott Road Funeral Chapel, 1001 Winscott Road, Benbrook. Burial: 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Alameda Cemetery, Ranger. Visitation: 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday.
Haden "Butch" Eastland was born June 12, 1946, in Ranger, but lived and worked in White Settlement most of his life. He lived life to the fullest. He was an avid car race fan, enjoyed fishing, other sports and outside activities with a great number of friends. He was a good friend and was always ready to lend a helping hand. Many a day he and a friend would put their heads together and be bent over a car engine.
Haden was a loving father and best friend to his daughters; a willing listener who offered witty, but sound advice. He often said things that would bring a smile, such as, "Let's don't get in a panic," or "Take a seat under a tree and think about it." Or, if a simple project turned sour, he would remark, "Houston, we have a problem," or "If this ain't a fine pickle of a mess," or "This ain't gonna be pretty."
He loved and enjoyed his grandchildren. Haden took pleasure in his garden and doing projects around the house. He was regarded with affection and trust by all who knew him and will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Haden Edward Eastland Sr. and Esther Morene "Mert" Blackwell Eastland.
The family would like to especially thank Vitas Hospice for their compassion and support.
Survivors: Daughters, Torie Williams and Tonie Whitmer; granddaughters, Ashlynn Williams, Kendall and Lillian Whitmer; grandsons, Robert and Nathaniel Botello and Joseph Cruz, all of Fort Worth; uncles, Virgil, Ray, Herman and Ed Blackwell; and aunt, June Ice.
