It is so nice to finally hear a "we might be related" even if it doesn't turn out to be so in the end. I have got no idea where John Edwin Eaton (my grandfather) was born. The family comes from somewhere in the UK but I don't know where exactly nor which generation moved to Australia. I do know that John Edwin Eaton lived in Geelong, Victoria, Australia from at least 1931 onwards. My father is proving to be a very poor historian and I can't get much more from him than "one of them came to Australia and I think they were govenment assisted". That could mean anyone from my grandfather to my third cousin twice removed. I am trying to get hold of dads birth certificate so I have something definate to go on.
From what I can gather John Eaton senior married ? and had 3 children John Edwin Eaton (1904 - 1974), Gretta and Bert (I have no idea if they are actually the names on birth certs or if they are nicknames). ? died and John Eaton senior remarried and had a son, Steve.
The next generation is more reliable. John Edwin Eaton (1904 - 1974) married Maggie Elizabeth Alexander Annear (1900 - 1967) and had 3 children, Robert Alexander (b1931) (my father), Patricia Margaret (b 1933)(married Tom Webster and adopted two children Angela and John), and Catherine Agnes Rosemarie (b1941) (married Trevor Hill and had 2 children Darren and Russel).
Robert Alexander Eaton (b1931) married June Draney (b1936) in 1963. They have 7 children Roy David (b1964), Bruce Andrew (b1966)(married Anne Elizabeth Webster and had 2 children Timothy and Matthew), Susan Kay (b1968), Sonya Annette (b1969), Janet Louise (b1975), Ruth Elizabeth (b1977), and Luke Alexander (b1983).
That is probably more information than you really wanted to know. It would be nice if we did turn out to be related. Dads side of the family is not proving as easy as mums side.
Hope you are well,
Janet.
