Nathaniel R. Eaves was the son of Mark and sister of Esther Holliday Eaves- Biographical Sketches of Distinguished Americans, Now Living… by John Livingston,published in 1853 & Nathaniel Ridley Papers

I am also researching Mark/Nathaniel. I believe they may be related to William/Archibald of Union Co SC

Information on Ann Eaves married to Ephraim Tomkins/Tompkins

I am searching f0r information on Ann Eaves married to Ephraim Tomkins/Tompkins. Ephraim was my great grandfather. Ann was born in Chelsea, England abt. 1845. According to their marriage certificate her father's name was Edward. In the 1891 Census they lived in York Town, Frimley, Surrey, England.
The only Eaves born in Chelsea that I have traced was a Mary Ann whose father's name was Edward and wonder if this is the Ann Eaves I am researching.

Thanks for the reply and additional information. There are several paragraphs of information referring to the Eaves (most specifically daughter Sarah) in the Madison Illinois County History pub. 1882. It is online and searchable in Ancestry under publications.

James Henry Eaves was born on 12 April 1873 in Savannah, Hardin Co., TN.
He was the son of Thomas Eaves and Martha Jane Jones.
Thomas was the son of Andrew Eaves II and Minerva (?)

James Henry Eaves married Rosie Waldron on 17 November 1895 in Washington Co., AR.

James Henry Eaves married Arizona Wallins on 3 April 1898 in Washington Co., AR.

James Henry Eaves married Verna Willis on 21 May 1927 in Van Buren, Crawford Co., AR.

James Henry Eaves died on 22 January 1967 in Coolidge, Maricopa Co., AZ, at age 93. He was buried in Oak Grove Cemetery, Ft. Smith, Sebastian Co., AR.

Next door is Lester Eaves 23, (1893) and wife Ranna, 18 (1902)

Lester, Roy, Annie and Clifford are the children of Eugene (Harry Eugene) Eaves (1875-1931) and Mary Ervin (1876-?). In 1920, Eugene is still living in Chattanooga TN with his 2nd wife, Mollie Hyers, who he married in 1917.

In the book - BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCHES OF DISTINGUISHED AMERICANS, NOW LIVING. Philosophy Teaching by Example, by John Livingston,published in 1853 –

Nathaniel Ridley Eaves was noted to have been born in Bellfield,VA on the Meherrin River. His mother died when he was 5 days old. She left 3 sons and 1 daughter. She was a Holliday from Nansemond Co., VA.

His father (first name not given) was a native of Greenville Co, VA, and served in the Revolutionary War.

After the death of his wife, Nathaniel’s father moved the family to SC, Chester District, on the Catawba River. The children were entitled to an inheritance from their mother. Eaves fell sick during his journey back to Virginia to claim, on his children’s behalf, an inheritance from their mother.

A Nathaniel Eaves is noted on the 1820 Census for Union Co, SC along with William and Archibald Eaves.

I saw a reference to a Mark Eaves marriage to Sarah Holliday.

Mark Eaves is listed in the 1790 census for Halifax, NC but is not listed after that.

From future census, Nathanial Ridley was born circa 1791.

Nathaniel Ridley’s sister was Esther Holliday Eaves, who married John Ragsdale Buford in 1779 in Chester, SC.

Can anyone confirm that Mark Eaves’ marriage to Sarah (?) Holliday and these are the parents of Nathaniel Ridley Eaves?

Can you tell me how you linked Nathaniel? I'm researching the Nathaniel who appears on the 1820 Census for Union Co SC along with William and Archibald Eaves. He's between 60-70 putting his birth date 1770-1780. He may be the related to the Nathaniel Eaves who was given land in GA in 1784 for his RW service, discharged in 1779. Any help is appreciated.

ARCHIBALD EAVES (EVES)

Looking for information on Archibald Eaves (Eves). In Union SC 1820, 1830, 1840 census (Eaves), on Murray Co GA 1850 census (Eves), not found after that.

Archibald (Eaves) entered into an apprenticeship agreement with a Peter P.Taylor in 1814, Union Co SC.

Four of his children, Nancy, Martin V, John F and Archibald (Eve) on Gordon Co GA 1860 census. Son James on Hamilton Co TN 1860 census, 1870 Dade Co GA census, 1880 & 1900 Hamilton Co TN census, 1910 Lauderdale Co MS, died & buried 1913 in Lauderdale MS.

The 1850 shows his wife as Lettitea (Lettilea). I’ve seen her last name posted as Herndestin (Herdestin), but cannot reference this surname anywhere else – can anyone give me a source for this information?

Looking for information on Hattie Eaves who married Thomas Jefferson McKnight and the daughter of Reed Eaves. Reed may be his first or middle name. She was born and married in Texas and lived in Arkansas where she was killed in an auto accident in 1931. Burried at Glenwood Oakgrove Cemetery in Montgomery County. She had 4 known brothers, William, Foley, Charlie and Joe.
