I knew, and was a friend of a Boyd Eavis in Saint John, N.B. during the late 1950's. I recall meeting Boyd in Halifax in the summer of 1958 or 1959 while I was with the RCN Universiry Officer Plan. No contact since. Might this be of interest to you?

Hi family...hmmm I found out something today that I didn't really like, as is usual in family history. The Eavis name is originally Norman...Oh no..all my rants against William have to be re-assessed!!!

Thanks David. This looks like the right Boyd Eavis judging by his birth day which is close to mine.

There are quite a few friends who will be interested in contacting him.

Hi: I have recoved a Boyd Leslie Eavis in my records, b. 1938 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, father - Leslie Kenneth Eavis (b. 1915 in Ramea Newfoundland, where my family resides still). Not sure if this is the same Boyd you are speaking of. Unfortunately, I don`t have a valid phone number or address for him in my files, but I do have family in Nova scotia that might me able to assist. I will certainly do what I can to find out information about Boyd (if he is still in the Maritimes)

I will send you any information I find on this individual. Thanks for your patience as I search for more info.

I am trying to find an old friend Boyde Eavis. We are both from Halifax but, were good friends in 1960 in Toronto.

This is a photo of Boyde in the 1960ies.

We recently had a reunion in Halifax and were wondering where he was. If you can help we would be grateful.

Glad to hear from you, and to learn that people do still occasionally read these postings.

Family History has been an obsession of mine for more than 10 years now, and I have collected quite a bit of info on my Eavis genealogy. My dad, unfortunately, has since passed away (in 2003). His brother George, in Lower Sackville, NS, is the lone survivor now in his immediate line of brothers. There was another William (Bill) Eavis somewhere in Nova Scotia, who has now passed away. I think he was maybe my dad's uncle. He came to visit my family in Ramea frequently in his day...I don't have much info on him, and would appreciate any and all input you may have.

I am researching my family tree and have managed to trace my ggrandmother Harriet Eavis-formerly Lawrence, born 1825 Tivershall Norfolk. She had 5 children Mary Ann..Harriet..John Wittleton..Isaac and Elizabeth with James Eavis my ggrandfather ranging from 1852-1868. They had their children all around the Crouch End, Hornsey area of Middx and James was apparently a butler. I seem to have reached a bit of a dead end as far as James is concerned and wondered if any of you Eavis's out there had come across him in your travels.

Interested in seeing so many involved in the Eavis family tree..Charles Eavis.. b 1867 d..1926 was my maternal grandfather..married Caroline Scott..Grandfather,s father,s name was George William Eavis.b 1845..d 1910 married Catherine?? maiden name unknown-- Robert Parsons--writer of many books about sea disasters also has records of Eavis names from Grand Bank.. I,m interested in knowing where Eavis,s actually lived prior to coming to nfld ..it would appear the name came to our province when Charles William Eavis from Portsmouth, England jumped ship in the 1830,s while serving as midshipman with the Royal Navy..Thanks to all interested in this name..

My husband is James Eavis Jackson, his Mother is Kathryn Eavis Jackson, Her Mother was Kathryn Eliz.(Walsh) Eavis, and her Father was Henry Jacob Eavis. Her grandfather was Charles Eavis. I have been in touch with you before re the EAVIS family from Henstridge. I don't recognise any of the names you gave except JOHN. I have John Eavis b.1791 in Henstridge. He married Susannah SENIOR in 1816 in Henstridge. He died in 1846. He is my 2nd great grandfather.

My name is William Wilson Eavis, great, great, great grandson of Charles William Eavis who landed in Newfoundland in about 1835 I believe.

I recently heard from Jim Avis. He gave me some new information.

Thomas Eavis (mygggrandfather) was the son of James and Mary Young.
James Eavis was the son of Thomas and Jane___.
Thomas and Jane had 4 sons. James, George, Charles and John (Is this your John born in 1791 and married to suzannah Senior.

Thomas was the son of Thomas Eavis and Love

If this sound familar, I would like to ask the following.

Thomas wife Jane what was her last name.
thomas wife Love what was her last name.

He and I were in touch a few years back and I since have a new email and last name. I was recently married, formerly Julie Fletcher, great grandaughter of Cora Simms of Ramea.

Joan Lois EAVIS b. July 1927, d. May 1984.

Joan was my sister and the Mother's surname should read JONES and not JAMES. Is it possible to have this corrected please?
