i known that my dad was related to the ebares her in vt,his cousin who lived in fairfax,vt was Nelson Ebare,but died in the early 70s my dad was from mooers forks,ny just thought id pass this on.

I read your post, My Great Grandfather was Joe Ducham born in 1861 Died in 1941. According to the 1910 Mn. census
He was married to (Louise) I didn't know her last name until now. The Record is listed as (Joe Duckson) misspelled.

As you stated she died shortly after her 4th child was born.
The children were Leose, Joseph Fredrick(my grandfather),William Joseph and Maud. Joe is buried in Hemlock,Saginaw county Michigan. I don't know where Loise was buried. maybe minnesota?

Many Hebert changed their last name in USA. Abare, Abar, Abair, Ebare, Herbert, Hibbard and many others kept the name Hebert. In Quebec, we have only Hebert families.

I would like to add that many Hubert families (even in Quebec) changed their name to Hebert (or variations of Hebert). I have a lot of Hubert families in New York State listed in census as Abare. The family of Frank Abare and Virginie Snyder (Chenail in french) is an example. But most of baptisms of the children are listed as Hubert (Mooers Forks and Champlain).

please reply .I was replying to your email on Ancestry.com because they notified me of your query. I was typing a response when I hit a wrong key and then the email acted like I sent it??? If you would like to email I would welcome your question. I have done extensive research into the Ebare name back some 400 years to Louis & Marie Hebert (first settler/farmers in Lower Canada in 1610. Did you get that unfinished 1st email?? What was your father's name? Edgar Ebare was my father & Theodore Ebare was my granfather. I don't seem to remember your name but my wife & I moved to British Columbia in 1970 so alot of things change. Where you my Uncle Dave's grandaughter or daughter? Looking forward to emailing you. My name is Wally (Wallace Harold Ebare) and I was born in Chatham, Ontario on Aug.25,1946. My dad Edgar Ebare was born in Wallaceburg, Ontario (July 12/1914).Chatham is just about 20 minutes south of Wallaceburg on the map. I remember as a boy (in the 1950's about the time Elvis was new) making trips to Detroit to visit relatives/cousins. There are quite a few of my relatives living in that area(Chatham). I have done some research myself and would be glad to email you what I have. Also I have a nephew that has really done his homework & I can link you up with him too.

P.S. "Hebert" & "Hubert" names are also part of our ancestry. Louis & Marie Hebert settled in Canada in 1610 to become the first ever farmers to work the land in "Upper Canada" (Ontario).They were the first Ebares to arrive from France.Louis & Marie Hebert make us one of the oldest families in North America pre-dating the oldest Department store (The Hudson Bay Company 1670).Sadly this month Target Stores may be taking it over ending a long tradition.

My grgr-grandma was Nancy Rose Ebare possible DOB 1/10/1869. She was married to Louis Alexander Tremble & lived in Michigan. I found someone with the same name in the 1880 census. Don't know if it's her yet.

Father listed as: Richard Ebera
Mother listed as: Esther Ebera
Children are: Josephine, Nancy, Ambrose, John & Gilbert

All family members born in Canada per census.

Good to hear from you. Felix was my 3rd Great-Grandfather, but the Great-Grandfather of my Grandmother. Felix and his wife Mary Elizabeth Hutchins came to Traverse City, Michigan from New York with their children. I'm descended from their daughter Phoebe Ebare Steinebach. Phoebe and her husband owned a grocery store across the road from St. Mary's Catholic Church, and the couple were both staunch Catholics. Both I and my Grandmother's sister have been trying to trace this family back. If you have any info. it would be MOST appreciated. Look forward to hearing from you soon. Info from Jacques Hebert shows that your Felix Ebare and my Frank Ebare were brothers. Frank was my great grandfather. Do you have any other info on this family? I was surprised to see that the original name was Hubert. Thanks to Jacques I was at least able to get the names of my ancesters back to Rene Hubert. Several generations!! I was looking in all the wrong places before!!

My source? Baptisms, marriages and burials of Tilbury East, Kent Co, Ontario.
Some Hebert changed their name to Ebare (not the contrary).
In fact, many Hebert have changed their name to Ebere, Ebare, Ebert, Abar, Abare, Abair, Abear, Hibbert, Hibbard, Herbert and so on... In Quebec, we have only Hebert families.

I knew that Nancy Rose married Louis Alexandre Tremblay. These people are all French Canadians.
The ancestors of Nancy Rose Ebare are Augustin Hebert dit Jolicoeur and Adrienne du Vivier.

Nancy.Rose Hebert was born 10 Jan 1869 in Wallaceburg, Ontario. Her parents are Richard Hebert and Esther Thibodeau married 17 October 1865 in Tilbury East, Kent Co, Ontario.
