I don't have all my files in front of me, but you need to look at Reinhard (also Reynold Ebaugh) and Roman Ebaugh of Somerset County, Pa. Two of several Ebaugh brothers who came to US sometime btwn 1830s and 1850s. Brown family part of Ebaugh tree on more than one branch. Some of these early Ebaughs--and Browns--moved west to Iowa. In fact, in 1935 trip west, my g-father Lloyd Wm Ebaugh stayed with cousins in Iowa. Anyway, whether your Ebaughs were brothers or sons of Reynold or Roman, I am positive your line connects with mine when all brothers were in Meyersdale, Pa. Unfortunately, I can find ZERO about brothers prior to Pa arrival.

I SO appreciate you taking the time to attempt to help me in my quest. Yes, I know about Find A Grave (and in fact take photos in my hometown) BUT I just can't seem to find anything to focus me in on FINDING Wilber/Wilbert/Wilbur's 2nd wife (my grandmother) Lona Sanders Hoober Ebaugh. I had hoped by finding him that she would appear or some info would come up. So far, no such luck. Her son, my uncle, Clarence B. Hoober is another mystery. They were separated by divorce and Lona's husband kept the older son, Joseph Wayne Hoober (my father) and thus the split that can't seem to be glued together on my tree:(
AGAIN, thanks,

Carolyn Hoober Arntson

I just got the John Jacob Ebaugh book early this year, but haven't been able to do much research due to poor health. It'd be nice to hear from someone who got to see the area in person. John Jacob & Sarah Flowers Ebaugh were my 5th greats. A cousin, Deb.

Just received and read the book on John Jacob Ebaugh by John Lynn Ebaugh. Was I glad--very informative! In the book there is an old photo of the home of John Ebaugh in York Co., PA, near Stewartstown. Would like to find out if the old house is still standing. I'm researching the Flowers family--the wife of John Ebaugh was Sarah Flowers, daughter of John and Catherine Flowers of York Co., PA. Might be visiting the area this fall and if so would like to see the old house.

I would love to know what you have on the Ebaugh family. I have almost nothing. I do know that Henry married Nancy Applegate in Clermont County, Ohio, so I think there's a very good chance that there's a relationship there. Please let me know what you have for the Ebaughs!

Thank you!

Lisa

I think this Henry may be related to Joseph Ebaugh who was in the 1850 census of Indiana. Jospeh md Lucinda Johnson in 1844 in Clermont Ohio. So it appears that Henry would not be her son.
I would love to compare notes and ifno. My line comes through a Clara Ebaugh who md Daivd M Kimsey in Clermont Ohio about 1850. They moved to Jennings In by 1860. There was also a Leonard Ebaugh who remained behind in Clermont Ohio who never did move to Indiana.
Nancy

Ebaugh - Somerset County, Pa and Port of Baltimore, Md

Looking for Reinhardt and other brothers of Roman Ebaugh c1826 to 1866. My G-G-G Grandfather Roman Ebaugh of Summit Twp, Somerset County, Pennsylvania, born Germany c1826, died 1866 in Somerset Cty, from illness contracted during Civil War service with 88th Pa Volunteers. Married Mary Albright in March 1860. After Roman's death, she married Joe Brown of Som Cty. Three Ebaugh children--William, 1860; Magdaline, 1863; Joseph R, 1865 (from which I descend). Roman's brother, Reinhardt (sp?) Ebaugh, also in Somerset Cty. I know nothing of Roman's past--nor much re: his life other than from his service/pension records. Family story tells that Reinhardt and Roman--with nine other brothers--enterred US through Port of Baltimore c 1840s. Reinhardt and Roman went to western Pa, others scattered elsewhere.

Jeff Werner,

I saw your message posted. I am from the Somerset County area and I am looking for a Joseph Ebaugh who served in the Korena war, circa 1951. I think he has passed away. I have a drawing of my mother, who was from Meyersdale, PA that was painted from a photograph that Joseph took with him to Japan during the war. He was in the navy. And I think he settled in San Francisco.

jeff
