I would like to thank you for the information you have posted. My dad, Karl, used to visit graves in the Erie cematary and placed an urn of flowers, and visit a another grave site. I was a pre teenager then, back in the early 50's, and was told to stay in the car. After my retirement in the late 80's, I, returned to Erie in our motorhome from Arizona. I was able to find the sites!!!!!!!!

Frank is in a paupers grave, with a small marker. Mary Jane is in the Warner family site. I had no idea who my grandmother was, but looking back, my dad Karl never mentioned to me who he was looking after.

THANK YOU AGAIN

jim

As a side note - I found that Lois Eckendorf married a Mr. Willis Cross, Jay, NY sometime in Feb. 1949. The spent their honeymoon in Vermont and expected to stay in Schroon to visit Mrs. Cross' sister, Mrs. Edward Baker - (Jeanne?).

I have been in contact w/ Mr. Yorks and it seems that this is the same family. I am trying to continue the family tree with Frank and L.C.'s children (Lois & Jeanne). > Mr. Yorks notes that Frank had been previously been married to Ellen Stockton.
>
Per an old online newspaper I have found the following:
>
>Looks like Lois' dad was Frank, her sister was Jeanne. Lois was born in around 1929 and Jeanne was born in or around 1919. Frank died in 1940. Lois' mother went by "Lee" or
>LC but her name was LEONNANIA - her birthdate was 01
>Nov 1886, she died Jan 1971. Last known residence was
>13503 (Utica, Oneida, NY ) per the SSDI... Her social security number
>was issued in N.Y. Mr. York has her dying in Ohio so I am unsure of her exact place of death and I do not have an obit on her.
It seems daughter Jeanne married Edward Baker....
>
>Looks like "Mrs. Edward Baker" had a son 1941 and
>daughters sometime in 1944 and 1949. Not sure it is
>the "Mrs. Baker" who is the sister of Lois....
>I cannot find the marriage of Jeanne and Edward Baker
>- and Jeanne is using Eckendorf up until 1941
I have been in touch w/ Mr. Yorks who states he lost track of this family in1923 but then found them (incorrect spelling) in the 1930 US Census - they had moved to NY. He notes that Jeanne's name is "Francis Jeanne".

If you have any info to add please contact me.
Thanks,
Georgia

Georgia, I wonder if the Frank you are referring to is from another generation. I have another Frank born circa 1879, son of John W. Eckendorf and Harriet Cornelia Tickner. he had a brother Andrew and sister Margaret born 1884. This Frank died 07 Oct 1940. John W. was the son of Michael Eckendorf (born circa 1827) and Margaret Schmuck.

Hello James, Glad you saw the post. I have progressed quite a bit on your family since I posted that message. I was doing the research for a friend of mine, your nephew, Mark Eckendorf, over near Jamestown, NY. I have a large chunk of Eckendorf family data, but have not been able to get at the U.S. Navy & Civil War naval records for your g-grandfather, Michael, who served on the ship "Iron Steamer" out of Erie, before and during the Civil War. I need to put together a "book" for Mark, yet on what I have gathered, but just haven't taken the time to do it. If you send me your email address, robertgyorks@hotmail.com, maybe we can follow up on this.
