Obituary :

MARTHA W. ECKERMAN, age 95, of Hudson, died December 7, 2004 at Crown Center at Laurel Lake in Hudson.

She was born October 31, 1909 at Tippecanoe, the daughter of the late Arthur B. Wharton and Lena ( Reynard ) Wharton.

She had been a resident of Hudson since 1992, having moved from Claremont, Califronia where she had spent the greater portion of her life.

She graduated in 1929 from Freeport High School and earned her nursing degree at White Cross Hospital at Columbus in 1932.

She was a member of the Pilgrim Congregational in Pomona, Cal. since 1947, serving on the library board. She was an associate member of the Hudson Congregational Church.

She had been a surgical nurse at Fisher-Hauck Clinic at Pomona, California from 1947 to 1976.

Preceded in death by her husband, Fred G. Eckerman and brother, Cpl. Lyle R. Wharton and twin sister, Mrs. Noble ( Margaret ) Gunning.

Surviving are her nephew, Lyle Gunning and wife, Marlene of Hudson ; grand-nephew Kevin Gunning and wife, Liz, of Dunedin, Fla. ; grand-niece, Keli Nehls and husband Mike of Brownsville, Oregon.

Burial at Greenmont Cemetery, Freeport, Harrison County, Ohio
