Hi, I hope you can help me. My gr. Grandmother is Margaret Eckert. She was born in 1850 and d. in 1934. Her fathers name was George, and she had a son George Robert. She came to Michigan from Canada probably in 1890. (There seems to be alot of unknowens in that area.) She m. John Morgan. He never came to the U.S. I have heard that when she was a baby her family lived in the west area of Canada somewere, they had a house fire during the night and her sisters who were in the loft of their cabin died in the fire. Her parents then moved East with her. I beleave they settled in Ontario. My dad says some of the family was from Elsie Craig, Ontario but I am not sure if this is the Eckert side or the Morgan side. My Grandma Margaret LaGosh use to stay in contact with some of the family in Canada but we have lost all contact now. I would love to contact some of our family from there.
