Mary Eckler Bible
Small Bible – published 1831
Maria Eckler, born February 6, 1810
Maria Eleanor Sozier, July 15, 1822
Maria Eckler, died November 30, 1834, in the 25th year of her age
My sister Bell died in Catskill on Main St., August 4th, 1899, No 361, at 9 o’clock and 25 minutes evening (Emery G. Clark?)
+++++
Greene County is usually the home of Hudson Valley Eckler's, but these names do not fit with info I have. I suspect the Sozier is actually Lozier.
Durham Twp. is usually the home of James Eckler, son of Frederick of Bradford Co., PA, but he has no known children corresponding to these dates--though not much about him is documented. (James is probably the mysterious Mr. Eckler referred to in the Beers Greene Co. history.) Some believe that his father Frederick returned to Greene Co., after the death of his wife Sarah Barker and may have died in the area, but we have no record of that. None of the graves prior to that of Peter Morris Eckler (first grave in Jefferson Rural Cemetery) survive.
Any thoughts on who these people may be?
