I have been able to map out a lot of my family tree with the exception of Anderson Eads. Your post eludes to you knowing where Anderson originates from. Can be found US Census in:
1830 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, in home of "Jno Eds", he's unnamed, listed as free white male 10-14
1860 in Alabama, Tuscaloosa, Western Division, as Austine Eeds
1870 in Alabama, Tuscaloosa, Northport, as Davy A Ease (I have suggested an alternate name on ancestry.com as Davis Austin Eeds)
1880 in Alabama, Tuscaloosa, Northport, as Davis A Eeds

Guesstimate at children:
Would bet there is one child between marriage in 1837 and first child I can find, William

There is a John A. 1864ish and Sarah C. 1867ish in the household in 1880. They weren't there in 1870, and, of course, there are two Sarah's in the house in 1880 - so don't know if John was a caboose 10 years later or he and Sarah were living with them from another Eeds branch.

Hello All!

I am looking for help about my g-grandmother Monila Lee Edds. She lived in the Rose Hill, Va., Hancock & Claiborne county, TN area.

She would have been born about 1850 and we have estimated her death to be about 1893 due to complications of child-birth.

I have been unable to locate any kind of paper-trail about her - including her marriage to my g-grandfather Henry Clay Montgomery.

Death of Warren Edds has an impact on community
By Robert Barron, Staff Writer

Warren Edds never held a public office. He never was successful in business, and there are no statues of him in town.

But everybody knew Edds, and everyone was used to seeing him ride his three-wheeled cycle around town.

His death at age 59 has had an impact in Enid on people who knew him or even just knew who he was.

Edds was supposed to wear oxygen at all times since becoming ill with pneumonia in May. He had not been seen for two or three days when his body was found by a neighbor inside his apartment about 8 p.m. Monday. Enid Police Department is investigating it as an unattended death and said there is nothing suspicious.

His funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Davis Park Christian Church with the Rev. Alan Seibel officiating. Burial will follow at Enid State School under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home. An account has been set up at Central National Bank for funeral expenses. The funeral home has asked friends for anecdotes to use in his obituary.

Edds was born Aug. 19, 1949, to Thomas R. and Cheryl Holland Edds. He lived at Enid State School until earning his statute of independent living. He was a member of Davis Park Christian Church since 1975.

He is survived by his father, who lives in Florida; brother Steve Smith, of Broken Arrow; sister Sandy Brown, of Ohio; and aunt, Gina Crotty, of Stillwater.

Edds volunteered at PEGASYS, Enid’s public-access television station, for 26 years, regularly assisting with camera work. He also was known for his support for Oklahoma State University athletics.

“He always had something positive to say about everyone,” said Wendy Quarles, PEGASYS executive director and a friend of Edds.

Edds could be seen frequently around town riding an adult tricycle donated to him by local business and groups, or at McDonald’s at Maine and Van Buren engaging people in a spirited conversation about OSU athletics.

Edds was a charter member and first president of the Yes We Can Civitan Club, which consisted largely of people with special needs. He originated the name of the club and was nominated as regional director of Civitans for Oklahoma and Arkansas. He also was the club’s highest point producer, earning the name “Mr. 400.” Edds scheduled regular programs on PEGASYS, and the club established the “Chiller Challenge” competition, in which people jump into freezing water to raise money for the Special Olympics program. Edds was 1981 Special Olympian of the Year.

“It’s people with special needs saying, ‘We can do that,’” said Kathy Eck, a sponsor of the club.

“He was an icon in this town. Even if people didn’t know his name, they knew him because of him riding all over the community on his tricycle with the orange safety flag. They knew of him. He had an infectious smile and was always concerned about people. He was just a kind person,” Eck said.

The Enid News & Eagle Web site received a number of postings Tuesday after word of Edds’ death became known.

“Enid has lost a great man, a faithful friend and a dedicated volunteer. Warren will truly be missed,” said Lindy Chambers, executive director of Main Street Enid.

Another stated, “Warren will be missed. He always said hello to anyone that would listen. OSU has lost a fan.”

People who saw him casually said it was a pleasure to know him, that he always put a smile on their face.

Mayor John Criner said Edds was a good resident and encouraged him and the city commission. He went to the Public Library of Enid and Garfield County daily to remain informed on city matters. When the city dedicated a new bridge on West Randolph in 2007, Edds was the first to ride across on his bicycle.

Molly Helm, director of communications and marketing for Autry Technology Center, recalled being a camp counselor at Campfire Camp in high school when some of the clients at Sunnyside Nursing Home came for the day. Warren’s nickname was Jabber as was Helm’s, and she said they immediately struck up a friendship.

“Years later, it has been especially heart-warming to see him working the cameras for PEGASYS, doing something he loved,” Helm said. “His cheery smile and his kind heart will be missed.”

1st Lt. Jonathan W. Edds, 24, of White Pigeon, Mich., died Aug. 17 in Baghdad, Iraq, of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his vehicle using an improvised explosive device and small arms fire. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 69th Armor Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Benning, Ga.

Jenny "Jane Eads/Edds married John Markham in Bedford Co, VA. I am descended from her sister Anna.
I am also descended from John Markham of Giles Co, VA and Wayne Co, KY through their son Edmund Markham who married Hannah KellEY (note the E in her name). These are two different John Markhams.

Am looking for information on Ellen Edds b. 2 Jan 1807 in Maryland, d. 18 May 1882 Cleveland, OH, m. 10 Dec 1831 in Washington D.C. to Sebre Howard (1805-1862). Her sister is Caroline Edds (b. DC, d. 3 May 1886) who married Hiram Howard (Sebre's brother) on 18 Feb 1834 in Washington D.C. as well. I think they have a brother or father named John Edds, as Sebre had a patent that was witnessed by a John Edds. I am descended from Sebre and Ellen and am trying to find her parents and lineage. Any information on this Edds family would be appreciated. Both Ellen and Caroline appear in the 1880 census as widows living with Ellen's daughter and son-in-law Ella and Richard Chittenden in East Cleveland, Cuyahoga, Ohio.

Looking for any info on John Eads (Edds, Edd, Eades, Eade, etc) in Wilkes NC in 1840. Also in Wilkes is Ezekiel Eads, presumed to be Johns father. Ezekiel was b. in Rowan NC, m. in Iredell NC, resided Wilkes.
John b abt 1805 in Iredell. 1840 census shows him with several children. Family vanishes after 1840.

I am descended from Anna Edds/Eads younger sister of Jane "Jenny" Edds/Eads.

I have never seen a death date or place for Jenny. If you want info on her parents Joseph or Sarah Leftwich, let me know.

I am also a direct descendant of another John Markham of Giles Co, VA and Wayne Co, KY. There seems to be a lot of confusion about these two men.

I was the medic on Speedy's Special Forces Operational Detachment A-221, B Co, 2nd Bn, 10th Special Forces Group (Abn) from Jan '74 til he was killed in '76. I spent quite a bit of time with him on our last mission. I was also at his funeral/wake. I'm happy to help you out if I can.

My maiden name is eads.......and they came from Virginia to Tennessee with the early settlers.....settled in Moss Tenn....but are spread all over..look up Clay County Tenn....there is a George A eads...son of Anderson Eads....george would have been a ggg uncle.....Anderson eads would have been My gg grandpa..

My great Grandfather was George Harrison EDDS, could be other Variation. He Was born in Grayson Co., Virginia about 1835 and married Sarah M. Copeland in the 1860's, she was born about 1840 in North Carolina. I think George is listed as Harrison Edds, child of Abraham Eads and Sarah East. All the dates and time and area lead me to this conclusion. George Also Listed as General Edds in the 1880 Texas Census., They has four children Adam(1868) Virginia, Joshua (1871) Virginia, Aaron (1876) Texas and James (1879) Texas.
Aaron is my Grandfather and he was Married to Mary Ann Hutsell is Missouri.
If any can connect George to any of my ancestors, it would be appreciated.

They are listed in the 1880 Census in Pittsburg, Hickory, Missouri, with a Nephew William H. HOWSER in Household that is 18 years old (in 1880) William HOWSER was born in TN, Fa: TN, Mo: TN.
A Hickory Co., MO birth for her daughter Lily Ann Ferguson mothers maiden name as SUSANNA FERGUSON and her father as JOHN T. FERGUSON.
I know that JOHN T. FERGUSON and SUSAN A. (EDDS) are buried at NEMO CEMETERY, Hickory County, Missouri.
Susan's daughter Tennesse Parolee head stone reads 3/12/1877 - 7/19/1894 Daughter of J. T. and SUSANA
I can not find them after 1880 to 1925 in any census records?
Is anyone else researching this line?
I have found that John & Susanna married in Bradley County, Tennessee; March 24, 1865

My grandfather is MATTHEW PRESTON EDDS. I don't know a lot about him. He is buried in the Cheatham cemetary in Colorado county, Texas.

I'm trying to find information on my g-grandfather.His name was George Washington Edds born,2-07-1876 in Missouri and married Rintha Myrtle Garner born,8-13-1878 in Missouri.I don't know when they were married, only in Missouri.Their first child, Cordelia was born 1-04-1899 in Missouri.They had two other children Maudie and Ossie.We were always told there was a flood in Missouri when he was six and his father took him and his sister to higher grounds went back for disabled wife and he never saw his parents again and their home went in the river.Any info will be appreciated--Dorothy
