Hi Becky,

sounds like that ties in. The name Cecil has come up but I thought he had a brother called Cecil ? Certainly the Cecil I've seen in photos appears similar, or younger in age. I was not in possesion of the facts way back when I posted that. William Alfred was in fact born at Amberley, West Sussex, 1848. Married Eleanor Hammond in 1879, Lived at Rogate, West Sussex until his death in 1920. They had three sons, George, Ben, and Guy (my grandfather) and two daughters, Mary and Margaret. I'm not sure how this family tree thing works on here, I joined this site when I posted that thread, which I see was 2003, and I'm sure it was free then, I haven't been back but your post was copied straight to my email. Now it seems I need to pay $79 !

Roger, thanks. Most of my family research is on the Hilton Family. Four Hilton brothers migrated to the Victorian Goldfields from 1853 onwards. I have traced their ancestry and some of their forefathers around Manchester. There were some married sisters left in Manchester and my current task is to trace them. Basically I am trying to find out who are my living relatives in UK.

Hi Trevor
Lawrence Ede Born about 1848 St Winnow is my 4th Cousin 3 Generations removed. From the 1851 Census (freecen.org.uk) his parents were Henry Ede and Jane Unknown. Henry Ede was baptised St Winnow 24 March 1811, parents Joseph Ede and Ann May. I must admit that i have not done a lot of research on the descendants of Henry Ede and Jane, but have information on the Ancestors of Henry Ede (1811) which goes back to the late 1600's. Let me do some more research on Henry Ede and Jane's family and see what I come up with.
Roger Ede
roger.ede@homecall.co.uk

Hi.

I am wondering if it would be possible to get copies of any of the information and pictures that you have of the Edes? Stephen Ede would have been my GGG grandfather. Unfortunately, I don't have any further information on Peter or Sarah, but I do have Peters last name spelled Edde. I've also found evidence that the Ede family was a family of Potters in the Sussex area and may have immigrated to England from the Netherlands. There's a town of Ede there as well.

Thanks!

P.S. if it is possible to get any copies, please email me at thatedeguy@hotmail.com

I'm wondering if he could have been one of the 5 brothers who immigrated from England. He had a son named Daniel Taylor Ede. Any info would be appreciated...

Hi,
I am Virginia T. Brooks Petree. Peter Ede (1775-1850) was my great, great grandfather, and one of his sons, Stephen Ede (1839- 1915) was my great grandfather. I have the booklet, The Five Ede Brothers, as well as the Ede family Bible, given to Stephen Ede by one of his daughters, Alice Ede Gammon, (1864-1935). I am looking for information about the possible parents of Peter Ede and his wife, Sarah Willet Ede (in England). I have some pictures of Stephen Ede, his wife, Eleanor Gleason Ede, and Eleanor's mother, Alice Hennebury Gleason. I am wondering if anyone else has pictures of the Stephen Ede family members or of Peter Ede, or Sarah Willet Ede.

Thanks for the thought, Roger. We are getting kinda slim with the bloodline of Joshua Ede.

I have a tree on Ancestry with some record info. I will send you an invite.

It seems that no one knew names of parents when Joshua and Nina Van Norman Ede died. I have not been able to find any info to confirm her parents. Ran into the same mess with Joshua, but with your help, was able to confirm his parents. Thanks again for that.

Hi Nina
So sorry to learn that your sister George passed away last year.
Quite by chance I was researching another Ede line which
brought me back to John Ede and Mary Ann Searle!
I know I corresponded a lot with George but unfortunately my computer had to be rebuilt and I lost a lot of my email records. If you wish to contact me contact me on roger.ede@homecall.co.uk, as I may well start researching these Edes again when i have found what paper records I have.

Once again my condolences

Roger
