Additional info. Rose's married name , I believe, was Kaisersatt. Grandpa Joe also had another sister who lived in St. Paul and was married to a Wagner. That would make her a sister to your grandmother. Another family from the twin cities named Klien also may be part of that group.

I believe grandpa had another sister named Rose who also lived in Hopkins and was a housekeeper for my uncle Jim after his wife Emma Eide Edel died. Uncle Jim ran a Tydol/Veedol gas station on the west end of main street. We just had a family reunion for the decendants of grandpa Joseph and grandma Anna last Sunday.

Edel 1901-1973 married to Marianne Ryan in Philadelphia. Joseph's parents- George Alousius Edel 1876-? and Mary Veronica UNK (whole other story, I think UNK is "unknown", deadended there too...). George's parents- Emanuel Edel 1855-? and Julie Myers. Emanuel's parents- Emanuel Edel 1836-1863 and Mary(?). Which brings me to Emanuel's parents- Matthias Edel 1797-1880(?) and Pheobe Bakeoven.

I would love to know if anyone has been able to get any further!! Of course, my husband's dad says he doesn't know anything about his family. I think he's hiding a secret ;)

Rumer Family

I think we may be related through the Rumer line. I am descended from Henry Coler and his wife Margretta Rumors (as her name appears in a family record), who appears to be a daughter of Henry Rumer and his wife Dorothy, of Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. I located a transcript of Henry Rumer's will that mentions a daughter who was the wife of Henry Coler (I believe the record you posted regarding the will has the name as Coates). The will also mentioned a son Henry. The family record I have also said Margretta had a brother Jacob.

Margretta Rumors Coler named her oldest daughter Dorothea. The Coler family moved to Virginia from Philadelphia about 1792. I have the family well documented from that point forward.

I've already seen your posting on Ancestry for the family and appreciate that you included source documents and photographs.

Shelley

Dear Amy,

I think I can help.
Margaret Edel Rumer was my great, great grandmother. She married Alfred Rumer probably around 1855 and they had 6 children: Catherine, Charles, Alfred, Anna, Florence and Margaret. I have the Rumer family history back to around 1740 in Pennsylvania and will very shortly have it all loaded onto Ancestry.
Please let me hear from you.

Kind regards,
Christina

Amy,

Have you found anything on your Margaret Edel? I also have a Margaret Edel from Philadelphia on my tree, but I don't think it is the same one. My Margaret Edel would have been born abt 1804 in Philadelphia. She married John Stamford (also of Philadelphia).

Since there were a few Edels in Philadelphia in the late 1700s, its hard to pinpoint which family my Margaret Edel would belong to. I was hoping that you figured out who your Margaret Edel's parents were so i can eliminate that family...

Please let me know.

Ken Houseman
Abington, Pa

Sorry to hear that. We used to visit my grandparents in Youngstown, when I was young. They had a great large two story house and the kids slept in what seemed to be an attic room.Grandma Helen loved to cook, our favorites were pierogos, and Kolache, a bread dessert that was awesome. She was large and very joly always smiling and laughing, Hellen's last name was Lipjanic and her parents were from Czech. Eugene's family were from Germany. Eugene Paul looked a lot the old actor "Billy de Wolfe". He was medium built, dark hair, and a thin mustache. He always had great stories for us grand kids and we enjoyed being around him.It was said that Grandpa worked for the railroad, as a clerk of some sort and was exempted from the WWII draft because of his value to the railroad. After he died I did find a small notebook of poems by him (I've lost it). it was written in very precise block print.
Thats all I remember right now.
One of the male members of my family had the DNA test. His test came back as Persian ancestry. These tests are 90% accurate. It would be logical as the human race began in that area and spread out from that point. My family Edel line traveled through Turkey and up into Germany. Magnificent history on the Persians, check your history books.

I haven't had much contact with the Edel family side since then. Their father Eugene Paul Edel, my grandfather died around 1971 and Helen died sometime in the 90s I believe. I guess that makes us second cousins.
I have always been told that Helen and Eugene were both orphans.

My half bother just got a DNA test done, the results were seperated Mother and Father side. Our Father, Phillip Edel (who is one of Raymond's sons) portion of the test results came back Majority Persian not European. This has thrown me for a loop.

If you have any other information or correct information please contact me bedel@gmail.com

Hi There!
My maiden name is Edel. For years I thought it was very uncommon and I wasn't sure if there were any more out there. My father was born in Michigan. I was born in Wisconsin and now live in Idaho. Not sure if we are related but Edel is not that common.
This is interesting info about my family. The birthdate for Eugene Paul Edel (my grandfather) is correct, I always took pride as being born on his birthdate of March 24th (Strangely enough my grandfather on my mom's side died on March 24th). My Dad Eugene Carl Edel always said that his dad had worked on the railroads. Also I was always told that Eugene Paul and Helen had only three children, all boys. Eugene Carl, was the oldest along with Raymond and Robert, both my uncles. of course if there was a Margaret, she died young and I guess no one ever talked about her.

I once had the entire pedigree of the Von Edel's..they were quite prestigious in Germany...really tight with the Royalty. Sadly, I gave it to an artist to paint me the family crest. When I went to retrieve it, he was gone. Apparently, he had a rift with his wife and left. I was broken hearted over it. I can never retrieve that information. I searched my fathers files for copies but could not find any...hopefully I will find his copy somewhere

Hello - Please respond to my messages, I do not have access to One World Tree , it is not a free site - I am trying to determine the parentage of HENRY H. EDEL-EDELL , I have the 1850 Census showing HENRY age 20 living with ANN age 50, in the house of ANN LAVER age 50 , in Phila. he is listed as a Cooper . There was a JOHN - JOHANN EDEL lived Germantown Rd early 1800s, in both Census also the Directories , was a Cooper - could this have been the father of my HENRY H. ?? Was his wife named ANN ?? Could this JOHANN be the son of CHRISTIAN EDEL of Germantown , his wife CATHERINE was pregnant with a JOHANN, when CHRISTIAN died 1769, JOHANN was b. Jan. 1770. CHRISTIAN had 2more sons, MATTHIAS also WILHELM, b. between 1765 and 1768....

Hello Misty - Will answer again, hope you get this - I don't think my HENRY is a son of MATTHIAS and PHOEBE Bakeoven, because I found a 1850 Census it appears he is living with his mother named ANN, age 50- the name was spelled EDAL- HENRY is age 20, and listed as a Cooper- they live with ANN LAVER age 50. I am going thru my Church records of the German Reformed also the German Lutheran Church in Germantown, looking for a LAVER - they would sponsor children for neigh bors and relatives, and this could be a lead to a connection ......
