With regard to the death date of Benjamin Jr. I have a copy of the death notice from the newspaper, which I will have to get out to get the date, this will clarify that part of it.

When I get it out, I will give you all the details that listed in it, there are also some details of his career in other notes that I have, courtesy of the Bostonian Society when I was in Boston in 1989.

More recently, with help from the Enoch Powell Free Library in Baltimore, I have been able to piece together Peter Edes' son Benjamin going to Baltimore, his printing career in that city, his family, Peter at one stage went to Baltimore, later to return to Maine, but his son stayed on.
Yes he did print the Minerva and Emerald, from the information that I have obtained over the years.

This has enabled me to finally solve the puzzle of my relationship to Benjamin Edes the Printer, in Boston.

The tree looks something like this

Benjamin Edes - Martha Starr
Their children, Peter Edes and Benjamin jr.

Peter Edes - married to ???
His son, Benjamin - married Mary Ann Sargent??
Their children
Benjamin(died in infancy??) born 9/30/1812
Mary Jane, born 4/8/1815
Ellen Cross, born 8/26/1823
Richard Andrew (proprietor of the lot in Oakhill Cemetery in Washington D.C., born 8/28/1825
Elizabeth (Wales?)born 7/31/1817, died 1883
Benjamin C. (railway engineer, later accepted commission in the US Army, died in Key West, born 3/26/1819, died 3/30/1844
Agnes Maria, born 9/16/1821, died 4/19/1854

Elizabeth (Wales?) Edes married Richard Cary Long, the Baltimore architect, having the following children,

Marion Edes married a Stearns, he was a Civil war surgeon

Janet Duncan Long, died 11/19/1862 18yrs.

Benjamin Edes Long, later to change his name to Benjamin Long Edes, at the will request of his grandfather, Benjamin Jr, son of the Boston Printer. Benjamin Long Edes, was a Naval officer, dying in Newport Rhode Island, whilst testing torpedoes, born 4/1/1847, died 1881. He married Grace Fletcher,
Their children
Elizabeth Edes, did not marry.

Grace Fletcher Edes, married Charles Fitzhugh Talman, my grandfather,
my father was Benjamin Long Edes Talman
I am Benjamin Long Edes Talman Jr.
and my son of four months is Benjamin Edes Fitzhugh Talman

I have been trying to tie this together for about 15 years and finally the pieces of the puzzle have come together.

Other information that I have, I think that has come from research into the IGI years ago, Edward Eades - Susanna Welch, married in Boston 1714, two children, Thomas b 1715 and William b 1718.

I hope that this fills a fews gaps

Ben
