Re: Looking info on john edgeworth b1570
This is where you are going to get stuck. It has always been said that the Edgeworths hailed from Edgware, this is pure conjecture, BUT the name Edgeworth came from Lancashire and/or Gloucestershire. Edgware does not have the same meaning. Roger or John have also been names as the possible fathers of Edward and John but no proof anywhere of either or. Roger being a Catholic when he fancied it made no difference either as they were allowed to marry(though not shouting it from roof tops) in 16th c England. However my money would be on John as Francis named his first boy John (I believe) and this fits with the English naming patterns. I can tell you though that the mother of John and Roger is (Rose Edgeworth) is buried at Chalfont St Peter. Confirm your stuff though with the Irish roots as Ambrosia and John Talbot (if they are on your list as father and son) are stated as having been born in Dublin BUT Ambrosij an Johannes Talbottus were born in Lancashire the same years as these two. Bit of a coincidence!!!! In fact often you see it claimed that Francis and Edward were born in Dublin. Hope this helps...
